🚒🔥 COMMUNITY HELPERS IN OUR TWO-YEAR-OLD CLASS! 🔥🚒

Our two-year-olds in Ms. Dakota’s class had a very special visitor today as they continued learning all about community helpers! ❤️

We were excited to welcome Mr. Donald Wright from the Bossier City Fire Department to Southland Park Learning Center! 👨‍🚒 He gave our little learners a fun, hands-on look at what it means to be a firefighter. The children were able to see and even try on a firefighter’s protective suit and coat! 🚒

Ms. Dakota’s class also practiced the letter F — F is for Firefighter, Fire, and Friends! 🖍️ They learned important fire-safety lessons, including why we should never touch hot things like fire, stoves, irons, curling irons, or hot pans and should always ask a trusted adult for help. 🧯

A HUGE thank you to Mr. Wright for taking time out of his day to visit our two-year-olds and help bring their community helpers lesson to life! ❤️🚒👨‍🚒

We love seeing our little learners have fun while learning about the wonderful people who help keep our community safe! ❤️

Southland Park Learning Center is now an official pick-up and drop-off location for Caddo Middle Magnet students!

🌇 Afternoon Drop-Off: Caddo Parish bus will drop students back off at Southland Park at approximately 4:05 PM

This is a great option for Caddo Middle Magnet families who are interested in utilizing before and/or after-school childcare at Southland Park while having their student ride the Caddo Parish school bus to and from school.

If you are interested in using Southland Park for childcare and transportation for your CMM student, please contact our office for enrollment information and availability.

• Must be willing to complete required training/certification

🌟 PART-TIME AFTER-SCHOOL STAFF
• Monday–Friday
• 2:30 PM–6:00 PM
• Great opportunity for high school students who can arrive by 4:00 PM
• Additional hours may be available when schools are closed and our center is open
• Must be at least 16 years old

Dear Parents,

To help our office staff give your questions or concerns the time and attention they deserve, we kindly ask that meetings be scheduled before 3:30 p.m. on school days whenever possible.

The afternoon carpool lane and the safe arrival of our children are our top priorities during this busy time. Unscheduled meetings can take our attention away from supervising the children and assisting with transportation, especially when the office is short-staffed.

We are always happy to address your concerns. Unless it is an emergency, please contact the office or send us a message through Brightwheel to schedule a convenient meeting time.

Ms. Lani is engaged and does not have any children of her own just yet. She loves working with children of all ages and previously served as a lead toddler teacher at Grawood’s MDO. She plans to continue her education in early childhood by earning her certification and eventually pursuing a degree!

Applicants must love working with little ones, be willing to obtain certification, and be available for required training. Experience with the Southland Park Learning Center curriculum is preferred.

We are excited and ready for another great school year at Southland Park! 💛 Please review your Brightwheel to see attached Before & After School Transportation Schedule for important bus departure and approximate return times.

📲 If your child will NOT be riding the bus Monday afternoon, please message us through Brightwheel as soon as possible.

Morning buses will leave SHARPLY at the listed times, so please arrive early! Afternoon return times may vary, especially during the first week of school.

I will be putting on a AHA heartsaver cpr/first aid class Tuesday 8/11/26 @ 6pm at Southland Park Learning Center if anyone is interested. I have a few spots remaining, it is 75$/person. This class will give you an AHA certification card good for 2 years.

This particular certification is great for childcare workers, teachers, babysitters or anyone outside the Healthcare environment who may need official CPR certification. (Healthcare workers require separate certification which I also teach).

I have been in EMS over 17 years with 15+ as a paramedic and have been teaching these courses for over 6 years. This class will last about 3+hours and you will be doing hands-on training along with video led lecture. You will learn skills necessary for adult/child and infant cpr. There are over 350,000 cases of out of hospital cardiac arrest each year just here in the united states with about 1-2% of those cases being pediatrics (less than 18 years old). Learning CPR can truly save lives as we have seen increases of out if hospital survival rates increase to upwards of 17%. That may not seem like much but when that percentage used to be 2-4% that is major progress. And it is partly due to bystander CPR interventions.
