Gardening… science in action! 🌱
Our students discovered how plants grow, what they need to thrive, and the joy of harvesting what they’ve nurtured with their own hands. It’s hands-on learning that combines science, responsibility, patience—and a little dirt under the nails! 🌿💧✨

🌿 What a difference a cleanup makes! 🙌
We’re so grateful to see the burned structure on Egan Street finally removed and the lot cleared. The blight had stood as a reminder of loss and neglect—but today, it’s a clean, open space that reflects the pride we have in our neighborhood.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen. When our streets look good, our community feels good. This kind of progress brings new energy and hope to the 400 block of Egan and to all of us who live, work, and serve here.

📸✨Hands-on learning in action at Renzi!
This young scientist is fully engaged in a STEAM project during our after-school program — exploring circuits, power sources, and how things work. These moments are more than just fun—they’re building the problem-solvers, engineers, and innovators of tomorrow.
After-school programs like ours are vital. They not only keep kids safe and inspired after the bell rings, but studies show students who participate in after-school programs improve their grades, attendance, and behavior. In fact, youth in these programs are 50% less likely to skip school and are more likely to pursue careers in science and technology (Afterschool Alliance).
Thank you to our supporters who make this possible. Let’s continue investing in our kids, their futures, and the power of learning beyond the classroom. 💡📚💛

🌱 Even while school’s on break, we’re still thinking about the lessons that grow beyond the classroom—like patience, teamwork, and caring for the world around us. Our garden program teaches Renzi students more than how to plant seeds—it teaches how to nurture something with purpose. We’re looking forward to digging back in this fall! 🌿💚

🌟 Celebrating Nell Shehee! 🌟
We are honored to join the Kiwanis Club of Shreveport in celebrating Nell Shehee Kramer, recipient of their Layperson of the Year award!
Through her work at the Nell Shehee Foundation and its Operation Kindness initiative, Nell continues to make a meaningful impact throughout Shreveport. Her commitment to uplifting the community and promoting kindness has inspired many, including us at Renzi, where her example has helped shape how we incorporate kindness into our afterschool programming.
We are also grateful to the Kiwanis Club for recognizing her dedication and including Renzi as part of this special honor through a generous donation. Congratulations, Nell, and thank you for all you do for our city!

Wire art fun!
Art teacher James Marks (Mr. J) has been a cornerstone of the Renzi Center for years, sparking imaginations and guiding young artists with patience, passion, and heart.

🎨✈️ Look who we spotted at Artport! Renzi teachers Kim and Bob Thompson had their beautiful artwork and photography featured in the Shreveport Regional Airport’s rotating art exhibit. We’re so proud to see our talented art teachers sharing their creativity with the community and visitors from around the world!

🚧 Positive change is happening in the 400 block of Egan Street.
Thank you City of Shreveport. The debris from the burned house across from Renzi is being cleared. This property had become a safety concern, especially with kids playing nearby, and contributed to the challenges our neighborhood already faces.
Seeing this space being addressed is a step in the right direction. We’re hopeful that continued efforts like this will help reduce blight and make our community safer for everyone.

🌳 Tree Trimming Transformation! 🌳
Earlier this year, we were so grateful to have a volunteer from the Knights of Columbus Marian Council #3779 come out and trim our overgrown trees — a task that hadn’t been done in years! His time and effort made such a difference in cleaning up our space and preparing it for a fresh season of growth . Thank you for your generosity and community spirit! 💚
