Our Mon. Nov. 15 concert is at 6:30 CT & will be in ANDERSON AUDITORIUM!All attending must wear a mask and be prepared to present proof of vaccination.

Centenary Youth Orchestra plans summer chamber music camp The Centenary Youth Orchestra (CYO) will present a Summer Chamber Music Camp June 14-17, 2021, at Centenary’s Hurley School of Music.
In addition to Cal Alexander, our other CYO concerto winners performing this Sunday, April 11 are Veronica Seal-Bravo, flute in Mozart’s Andante, K. 315 & Greer Kennedy, viola in JC Bach/Henri Casadesus’ Concerto in C-minor
GREER KENNEDY - VIOLA
Greer Kennedy is a freshman at Caddo Magnet High School, where she is co-principal viola in the orchestra and recent winner of the concerto competition. Greer has been practicing viola with the Centenary Suzuki School since she was three years old and currently studies with Charles Regauer. She has attended the Green Mountain Suzuki Institute in Vermont over the past seven years, and she qualified for the 2020-2021 Louisiana All-State Orchestra. Greer is a member of the Caddo Magnet tennis team and she enjoys playing with her neighborhood quartet, The Avenue.
VERONICA SEAL-BRAVO – FLUTE (Centenary College Class of 2021)
Veronica Seal-Bravo is a native of Lima, Peru and has lived in the United States since 2012. She started her instruction in flute ten years ago and has since participated in LMEA’s District Honor Band and All-State concert band. She has previously been instructed by Dr. Denette McDermott and is currently working towards her Bachelor of Arts in general music under the instruction of Sally Horak at Centenary College of Louisiana
What a pleasure it was to have Alexander Kerr, concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, offer a masterclass while in Shreveport for a performance with the Shreveport Symphony! Mr. Kerr worked with Centenary Suzuki School student, Cal Alexander (student of Laura Crawford, Centenary, and Jan Sloman, Cleveland Institute of Music) on the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, op. 35, which Cal will perform with the Centenary Youth Orchestra on Sunday, April 11 in the Hargrove Memorial Amphitheater on Centenary's campus! “A New World”
CYO will perform our Sunday, April 11 Spring Concert at 6:00 PM, to a very limited audience, with mask-wearing and social-distancing REQUIRED, at Hargrove Memorial Amphitheater (formerly, the Band Shell). The concert will be streamed live. Check back for the link to the livestream!!
The concert will feature the World Premier of “Comprehension” for string orchestra composed by Centenary College senior and CYO Principal Horn, Brennen Templeton.
CYO Concerto winners: Greer Kennedy, viola (JC Bach/Casadesus: Concerto in C-minor), Veronica Seal-Bravo, flute (Mozart: Andante, K. 315) and Cal Alexander, violin (Tschaikovsky: Violin Concerto in D-major) will be featured.
Movements from Dvorak: Symphony No. 9 “From The New World” and music from the Professor Layton video puzzle gaming series will also be performed!

CYO’s 2nd Rehearsal in a Socially Distanced Setting!
Greetings (potential) CYO members! We are proceeding with updated safety protocols in order to—hopefully to proceed with a FALL Semester CYO Program. The meeting time is still scheduled for Mondays from 7:00-8:30PM in Feazel Rehearsal Hall on the campus of Centenary College.
School for the college begins August 10, however we will attempt to meet/play (in-person) on AUGUST 17. Online activities/playing may be substituted in the event of COVID-19 quarantine or college shutdown. The concerts for this year will be broadcast online and/or recorded without an audience.
Specific information, especially for potential new members, regarding how our school year will look, as best as I can ascertain, will be sent after filling out the Information Card below AND submitting an audition video—due Friday August 14. The following are Google Links for:

AUDITION VIDEOS should be sent to Mr. Santelices at [email protected] no later than AUGUST 14, 2020. Videos should be uploaded to a streaming platform such as YouTube or Vimeo, and a link sent in. Videos can be left “unlisted” for privacy. Please remember that the videos must be recorded in good light so that I can adequately see your entire stance, instruments and hands (for all instruments) bow holds and the entire bow (for strings) and the entire instrument for everyone.
