Attn FBCS Middle Schooler: here is a great opportunity for FB church service hours.
FBC VBS is June 10-14th, 9 am - 12 pm
Middle school students who are interested in volunteering must attend the training meeting, June 9, 4:30 pm (formerly 5 pm) in the Chapel. Students must be trained in order to serve at VBS. Middle School students will not be permitted to volunteer unless they have completed training.
If a student cannot make the meeting, they need to contact the Children’s Ministry office at 318-841-8432.

Yesterday was the fourth annual AR water gun battle between our headmaster, elementary coordinator, children’s minister and those students who tripled their personal reading goal for the fourth nine weeks. We work hard...but we play hard too!
It was a great day for our 4th grade Living Museum. Our students portrayed everyone from Bono to Lucille Ball.
Mrs. Flint's "Busy Bears" filled their marble jar and went on a walking field trip to see the church organ and its "secret" room.
Another successful “book talk” by one of our fourth graders! Sam brought his motorcycle to school as his artifact to represent a recent book he read. It’s exciting when students get excited about a new book!

Due to the weather, Field Day has been rescheduled for Monday, May 13th. Silver Star regular lunches scheduled for Monday have been rescheduled for tomorrow. Your hamburger or chicken strip pre-ordered lunches will be available on Monday. If you did not pre-order a field day lunch, please bring a sack lunch. You may wear your field day shirt Monday. The field day schedule will remain the same on Monday and opening ceremonies will begin at 9:00 AM.
Tomorrow is a regularly scheduled school and uniform day.

Our Kindergarten classes are learning about ladybugs. They are reading The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle. Yesterday they released 3000 ladybugs in our school’s garden. Ladybugs are considered to be a beneficial bug which help get rid of aphids and other pests.

We are so lucky to have had author and poet Brod Bagert visit FBCS! He shared his poems and love of writing with our K5 through 8th grade students. Mr. Bagert truly makes literature come to life!

FBCS is excited to announce that we have adopted TYNKER, a computer coding program! We had a special day yesterday to officially launch the program and get everyone involved. While students had time to practice coding, they also spent plenty of time “unplugged” learning new vocabulary and writing algorithms. We are excited about incorporating TYNKER into our curriculum.

Congratulations to Elizabeth May, District 5th Grade Student of the Year. She will now advance to the Regional screening of the Private School Student of the Year on February 13 in Baton Rouge.
Our FBCS Student Council is in Lake Charles, LA having a lot of fun at LASC. We received the first EVER “TRIPLE STAR GOLD COUNCIL” award; we were elected District IX Parliamentarian; we won 2nd place (Sarah Jackson) in the Essay Contest; First Place in the “RECYCLED CRITTER” contest (Lily Blaylock & Garland Barrett) and we received awards for the Charity Donation, Student Council Week, & Custodian Appreciation Week !!!! The Pre-K 4, Bridging and Kindergarten Classes performed the "ABC Nativity" for families and friends on Tuesday, December 18th. Each letter of the alphabet was used to tell the story of that First Christmas.
We had "snow much fun" this week celebrating our top readers in the elementary school with reindeer games and a make your own melted snowman dessert!
