It's so confirming to get feedback like this after seeing smiles from employers and students throughout the entire event. Then, to learn that we served a record-breaking 210 participants is just icing on the cake.

A huge thank you to our Student Success colleagues who made it look easy during the event. Pro staff, GAs, and student staff all worked their tails!

And to the FS instructors who nudged your students to attend: you are an integral part of why this event was successful! First-year students comprised 50% of our attendees and kept the Ballroom bumping for the entire 3 hours!

We were thrilled to have come back so strong after having to cancel last spring's event.

Even if you aren't looking for a job or internship, career fairs are valuable events to attend. Here are three reasons NOT to skip out on next week's event:

1. EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS: A career fair provides a space for you to imagine yourself in different career paths. How well do you fit the options you’ve already thought about? What are other opportunities you haven’t considered?

Go into the career fair with a mindset of curiosity and with the goal of gathering information. Talk to people from a wide variety of organizations and ask questions about their day-to-day work. Learn about what opportunities exist at their organization for someone with your major. And be open to what folks share with you.

2. GET COMFORTABLE: It’s natural to be nervous when doing something new. And practicing is the best way to become more confident!

Use the low-stakes environment of a career fair to work on introducing yourself and talking about your skills. The next time you attend a large event like this, you will feel less intimidated when talking to employers.

3. BUILD CONNECTIONS: The next time you attend a career fair, you may have a more tangible goal. At that next event, you can lean on the connections you’ve already made with representatives from the companies you really liked. If you approached them with curiosity, confidence, and had good questions the last time you talked, you can build on that good first impression in the hopes of landing an interview.
