Let's celebrate! In just the last 8 weeks, these nine students have read over 19,000 minutes together and that doesn't even include the 40 minutes they spend reading independently at Mercy every single day!

We are excited that the end of the year is close at hand. While we LOVE teaching our Mercy students, we are also looking forward to the summer break. It's a season of life that gives teachers a slower pace. I hope it's also the same for you.

We will be celebrating Closing Benediction next Tuesday, May 19th, at 6 p.m. in Memorial Chapel. We will enjoy an end of the year highlights reel, and the students will participate in a special "Ringing Ceremony." We hope you will join us for a glimpse of what Mercy Christian offers children and families in Shreveport.

To all our donors and volunteers: we welcome you to this event. We could not do this work without you. You are a part of our story, and we hope to see you next week.

A student, a bee, and a way to wonder.

Each Friday, our students share the treasures they’ve discovered through the week. It's one of Mercy's values. We are NATURAL in our tending to God’s created order.

It was an absolute delight to have Shreveport Opera Xpress (SOX) at Mercy Christian yesterday. Our students and staff were locked in to the wonderful music and excellent storytelling. It would be remiss to end this season of Teacher Appreciation without a special shoutout to the woman with the vision—the one who followed Jesus back to Shreveport to make a high-quality Christian education possible for every family in our city.

She knows every name & wears all the funny hats. She comforts the hurting. She faithfully points kids to Jesus & teaches them how to talk to a Holy God. She is kind, gracious, loves justice, and may be just a little competitive (in the best way 😉).

She is the kind of leader who makes sure every single student, parent, teacher & donor feels seen, known, and fully loved. She is the heartbeat behind Mercy Christian, and we are forever thankful for her.

For the past month, she’s been faithfully calling parents and donors at 6am and again at 8pm—praying for our school, our donors, and our city. That kind of dedication can’t be taught. It’s a calling.

We love you. We honor you. And we thank Jesus for you. 🫶🏼
