This Thursday the LSUS Athletics Department is holding a Toy Drive to benefit pediatric patients at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. Donate a toy at either the 5:30 or 7:30 game for free entry. If you are unable to attend the game, you may make a monetary donation at the link below. All monetary proceeds collected go towards the purchase of a toy for a child spending the holiday in the pediatric unit.

The LSUS Alumni Association recently partnered with PCI to begin the Oral History Project. Alumni will receive postcards or email communications requesting that they call in to update contact information and share stories about their time at LSUS.
There is NO financial obligation or cost to share an oral history or update contact information. However, there is an offer to purchase a presale digital or hardback copy of the collected stories, as well as LSUS Alumni Association merchandise.

Looking for something interesting to do? History buff? Visit the Noel Collection on the third floor of the library for an exhibit on cartography featuring maps from around the world dating from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century! Maps have served as detailed visual representations of the human desire to explore and learn. From oblique city views, to the creation of orderly grids, to elaborate charts plotting travel to distant lands, maps have grown in scope and complexity alongside humanity. Check it out between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, until October 15! 🗺️

Vicki Dennis, MA '11, is the Dean of Liberal Arts and Business at Bossier Parish Community College. The divisions house a combined total of eight associate degrees and eight certificates. Her work consists of supervision of faculty and staff, scheduling classes and preparation of various reports for the degrees housed in her divisions, service to the over sixteen hundred students enrolled in the degree programs in the divisions, and coordination of programs and services to the community and four-year partners.

Cody King is a Financial Advisor at Cardinaux Wealth Advisors, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial, Inc. He helps clients achieve their individual and life goals through personalized financial advice. Cody began his career at Cardinaux Wealth Advisors as an intern his junior year of college. The company posted the internship on the LSUS job board, which was how he learned about the opportunity and ultimately applied.

What a fantastic experience for Caddo Parish students!
Dr. Santosh D'Mello (Ph.D. University of Pittsburgh, M.S. University of Bombay, India) will bring a wealth of experience to Louisiana State University Shreveport when he takes up his appointment as Chair of Biological Sciences in August 2021.
Dr. D'Mello has held postdoctoral positions at the Boston University Medical Center and at the Institute of Neurobiology, Rome, Italy; has taught Biology at all levels from freshmen to doctoral students; and has published over seventy primary reports stemming from his dynamic research into neurodegenerative disease. He is an editorial board member for several prominent scientific journals and has served on the review panels of federal and private agencies that fund scientific research.

Dr. Kimberly Pickens, Ed.D. '14, after recently moving back to Shreveport from Birmingham, Alabama, accepted a position at Southern University, Shreveport (SUSLA) as a Professor and Online Course Developer in the Division of Humanities. She impacts undergraduate students' lives daily by developing online courses using Open Educational Resources and by teaching and motivating college students. She is also an author (her first book was published in April of 2021) and co-owner of her family's business, Vegans On the Run. Kimberly's career journey started in broadcast journalism until she was offered a temporary position teaching college English and College Success.

The LSU Shreveport Alumni Association is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that supports the mission of the University. Founded in 1977 shortly after LSUS became a four-year institution, the Alumni Association has played an important part in the growth of the University.
The Alumni Association provides funds for scholarships, helps promote enrollment, supports the continuation and expansion of programs at LSUS, and encourages community involvement through financial contributions and cooperative events or community and civic organizations.
The Association's activities and traditions help increase community awareness of the University's programs, special events and specific needs. This awareness helps maintain and enhance LSU Shreveport's current reputation as the only comprehensive metropolitan university in the Shreveport-Bossier area.
