Cowboys, let's welcome Coach Johnson to the ranch!
2024-2025 Johnson served as the cornerbacks coach at Grambling State University where his position group tallied up 80+ tackles, 6 Interceptions and 1 touchdown.
2023-2024 Johnson worked at Captain Shreve High School where he served as the Co-DC and Defensive Backs Coach from 2023-2024. Johnson helped lead the Gators to their first undefeated district championship in school history. He mentored 4-star safety Tre Fuller, who is one of the state’s top defensive backs. Johnson also helped mold District 1-5A defensive MVP EJ McDonald. McDonald became the first defensive back to win the award within the last ten years.
Prior to coaching at Captain Shreve High School, Johnson served as the Head Coach at Bossier High School from 2021-2023. During his first season at Bossier High School, Johnson lead the Bearkats to their first winning season in four years with a 6-4 regular season record. He also led the Bearkats to their first playoff birth in four years. Johnson groomed All-State and District MVP Sedric AppleWhite, who signed with McNeese State University. He also groomed 1st team All-State Linebacker Christian Johnson, who signed with Navarro JC. While at Bossier High School, Johnson became a two-time I-20 All-Star coach working with defensive backs.
Before arriving at Bossier High School, Johnson served as the Cornerbacks Coach and Special Teams Coordinator at Calvary Baptist Academy. Johnson helped lead the Cavs to a 2020 LHSAA State Championship. In the state championship game, Johnson’s cornerbacks racked up three interceptions and one pick 6 for 71 yards.
In 2019, as a Defensive GA for the Tigers, Johnson served as a mentor to the Tigers’ swarming linebacker corps and special teams units. The linebackers were instrumental in the success of Grambling’s stifling defense.
Johnson was a 4-year letterman cornerback for the Tigers as a walk-on from 2014-2017. He played in thirty eight games including all thirteen during his senior season. He earned several accolades as a defensive back including; the 2017 1st team BOXTOROW All-American, BSN All-American, 1st team All-SWAC, Defensive Back of the Year, Player of the Week, BCHOF WATCHLIST, First Team All Louisiana, and was ranked 8th in the country in interceptions. Johnson won two Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championships and was a member of the 2016 HBCU Black College Football National Championship team.
After 4 years at Grambling, Johnson had workouts with a few CFL and NFL teams.
Johnson, a native of Plain Dealing, LA, was an All-State quarterback and defensive back at Plain Dealing High School. He graduated in 2017 from Grambling State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology Sports Management and a Master’s degree in Kinesiology Sports Administration in 2020.
Johnson is married to Ke’Atte Johnson and the couple has one child together, Gianna Johnson. He also has two more daughters Shyla Johnson and Ah’lani Johnson.
Principal Grant is excited to see what our football team will do this upcoming season! Welcome to the Ranch Coach Johnson!
