LSUS’s Center for Business and Economic Research has unveiled a powerful data tool that offers a neighborhood-level view of Shreveport! Instead of a broad city-wide snapshot, this tool provides detailed demographic and economic insights into Shreveport’s 44 distinct neighborhoods. Nonprofits and organizations can now access key information like household poverty rates, homeownership vs. renter stats, and education levels, making it easier to target services and apply for grants. 🌟
Director Douglas White shared how this tool empowers nonprofits, helping them better serve their communities: https://bit.ly/3W8Mygb.

Professor Thomas Moran will continue his free “Shreveport Forward” lecture series this Saturday, January 11, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Whited Room at Bynum Commons on the Centenary College campus. This free, public event invites all Shreveport residents to learn about and discuss how they can actively shape the city’s identity and future.
During the first two sessions, attendees engaged in lively conversations about the building blocks of Shreveport’s identity and the concept of developing a “North Star” to guide collective actions. The focus on historic milestones, cultural icons, and local economic factors highlighted how these elements can influence decisions on public investment, urban design, and the small everyday choices that ultimately create a city where people want to live, work, and thrive.
On January 11, the discussion will turn to the idea of “Shaping Place” and the practical application of temporary and “tactical” urbanism—short-term, low-cost projects that can transform public spaces and spark larger, long-term improvements. Participants will explore how these dynamic strategies can foster stronger neighborhoods, bring people together, and move Shreveport closer to a shared vision of sustainable growth.
Throughout the “Shreveport Forward” series, monthly lectures and discussions guide participants through the fundamental elements of a city, provide strategies for creating a cohesive civic identity, and offer methods for aligning community values with practical action. The overarching goal is to build an enduring commitment to Shreveport’s growth, grounded in core principles that every resident can support and help implement.
Don’t miss this opportunity to take part in shaping Shreveport’s tomorrow. Join fellow community members on January 11 in Centenary College’s Whited Room to learn how temporary and tactical urbanism can play a role in realizing a dynamic and sustainable future for the city.
