The program focuses on:
* Social Skills: Emphasis on interaction in home, school, social and work settings.
* Job Training: Learning the skills necessary to succeed in a work environment
* Home/Community: Concentration on learning life skills with a focus on being as independent as possible.
* English/Math Block: Reinforcement of skills needed to be successful in life by incorporating real-life scenarios in class
Community Work Experiences
Our partnership with businesses provides internships for students age 16-21. Through a rotation system, students are exposed to a variety of jobs providing valuable hands-on work experience while exposing them to various job opportunities. The experience incorporates the entire work experience beginning with the interview, and ending with the evaluation. Some of our work sites include: Culver's, Bakers Square, Colectivo, Discovery World, Betty Brinn Children's Museum, Pick n Save, Sendiks, Growing Power, Goody Gourmet, Standard Electric Supply, Shorewood Auto, Independence First, Shorewood Fitness Center, Jewish Home and Care Center, Miss Cupcake, WEYCO, and Walgreens. The School District provides onsite, job-coaching, guidance and support.
