In the Transition Program students learn how to be successful, increase their independence and lifelong members of our community.
The program focuses on:
* Social Skills: Emphasis on interaction in home, school, social and work settings.
* Job Training: Learning the skills necessary to succeed in a work environment
* Home/Community: Concentration on learning life skills with a focus on being as independent as possible.
* English/Math Block: Reinforcement of skills needed to be successful in life by incorporating real-life s
TWO MONTHS LATER.....
Finally getting back to the "book". Sorry there has been such a lapse in my communication.
February: Foods in Transition. This week we talked about safety in the kitchen, passed a hand-washing test, and learned about microwave safety. All of the students had homework to look through their cupboards for unsafe microwave dishes. Did you know that all plastics are labeled whether or not they are safe for the microwave? We also learned how to clean the microwave with lemons. Tomorrow we are cooking foods in the microwave that are instant, i.e. mac n cheese, instant noodles, soup, etc.
Trip Update: We did receive $1000 from SEED to help fund our trip to Florida. We are still waiting on Knights of Columbus.
