Today we celebrate the 1st day of Black History Month! Remember all the activist that change history through hard work and be thankful of all their effort! There’s still much work to be done.

🇺🇸BLACK HISTORY MONTH🇺🇸: Today is the start of Black History Month, a time when we as Americans celebrate the almost immeasurable accomplishments of African-Americans in our Nation!

From creating some of our country’s most memorable art, most innovative inventions, and most exciting literature, to educating and inspiring the world about humanity, technology, equality and perseverance, African Americans are a quintessential piece of the American fabric that deserve this respect, adulation, and commemoration.

All month long I’ll work to share stories and information that highlight the African American experience and contribution.

Today, I also want to remind you that in all of our nation’s history, just 12 African Americans have ever served in the U.S. senate: Hiram Revels, Blance K. Bruce, Edward Brooke, Carol Moseley Braun, Barack Obama, Roland Burris, Tim Scott, William “Mo” Cowan, Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Reverend Raphael Warnock & Laphonza Butler.

A huge amount of gratitude to those who were able to join our Día de Mu***os celebration last week. I hope you were able to learn something new, honor someone important to you and have some fun! If you’ve been able to commemorate someone on our community altar, we will hold a small ceremony tomorrow (11/9) at 1pm at the MC to respectfully commemorate all the names that were left. Please stop by if you have a chance!
