The Washington Department of Ecology has issued Air Quality Alerts for the following counties in Central and Eastern Washington until further notice due to current and expected smoke impacts from regional fires: Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, Walla Walla, Whitman, and Yakima. Particulate matter (PM2.5) may reach Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy levels. When air quality is unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued for King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, and Thurston Counties from noon Monday, August 3 through 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 5 due to expected wildfire smoke from regional fires. Air quality conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day today as smoke begins to mix down to the surface. Particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations may reach unhealthy for sensitive groups. When air quality reaches this level, individuals with health concerns and pre-existing conditions should reduce exposure and take precautions. This means limiting time outside, avoiding strenuous outdoor activity, and following tips for cleaner indoor air.
