Today we celebrate the people whose work, dedication, and care help keep our families and communities moving forward.

And here at KPT, weโ€™re especially grateful for the work that happens inside our own walls every day. ๐Ÿ’›

Early childhood education is joyful, meaningful workโ€”but it is also work. It takes patience, energy, knowledge, creativity, flexibility, and a whole lot of heart to care for children while helping them learn, grow, feel safe, and know that they belong.

So today, we celebrate our incredible KPT teamโ€”and all of the hardworking people in our KPT families and community.

We hope everyone enjoys a well-earned day to rest, recharge, spend time with the people you love, and maybe ignore the alarm clock for a little while. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And our teachers? Theyโ€™re already doing what great teachers do.

Getting down on the floor.
Helping little ones feel safe.
Welcoming children back into familiar routines.
Introducing new experiences.
Watching, listening, encouraging, teachingโ€”and probably answering approximately 847 questions before lunch. ๐Ÿ˜‚

These first days matter. Before children can learn with us, they need to know they belong with us. That happens in hundreds of small moments between teachers and children throughout the day.

Twenty fall programs. Twenty years of first days. And somehow, the excitement of watching another year begin never gets old.

As children grow, their classroom needs to grow with them.

Our school-age space is designed to give children something they need more and more as they get older: ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ. A place to build or create. A table to gather with friends. Space for games and challenges. A cozy spot to relax. Materials for imaginationโ€”and enough room to spread out when an idea gets BIG.

Because after a full day of school, children don't need another classroom asking them to sit still and follow someone else's agenda.

They need a place where they can reconnect with friends, decompress, explore what interests them, and decide what comes next.

Sometimes that means creating something incredible.

Sometimes it means an intense foosball match. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And sometimes it means finding a comfortable spot and doing absolutely nothing for a little while.

All of those things belong here. ๐Ÿ’›

Before a teacher asks the first question or begins the first activity, the environment is already teaching.

These spaces have been arranged so children can move, choose, create, collaborate, pretend, build, read, investigateโ€”and know where they belong within the room.

There are places for big ideas and quiet moments. Spaces to work together and spaces to work independently. Materials children can see, reach, use, and eventually learn to care for themselves.

And perhaps most importantly, there is room for the classroom to change

Right now, everything looks wonderfully neat and organized. Give them a little time. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Soon these spaces will be filled with half-built masterpieces, very serious pretend-play negotiations, books scattered around a cozy spot, projects that absolutely cannot be cleaned up because โ€œwe're still working on it!โ€โ€”and all the wonderful evidence that children have made the space their own.

That's when a classroom really comes to life. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ

Before the children walk through the door, their classroom is already inviting them to do something important: ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ.

Choose a book. Build a road. Care for a baby. Create a story. Sit with a friend. Try something new. Return to something familiar.

A thoughtfully prepared classroom gives children the freedom to explore while still providing the predictability and organization that help them feel secure. Materials have a home. Spaces have a purpose. And there are plenty of possibilities waiting at child level.

Soon this room won't look nearly this tidy. ๐Ÿ˜‚ There will be toys mid-adventure, books being read, elaborate plans unfolding on the floor, and children moving from โ€œI wonderโ€ฆโ€ to โ€œLook what I did!โ€

That's exactly what we're waiting for. ๐Ÿ’›

Today we celebrate a very special milestone- Sammy turns 19!

19 years ago, Kids Play Today opened as a Mommy and Me play center. One unit that taught about princesses, trucks, cooking, acting, and hosted the best treasure hunts a kid could ask for.

Today, that same building has expanded to a preschool for everyone from 6 months to 10 years. Weโ€™ve added 2 new units, an infant room, and three playgrounds. The first graduating class of Kids Play Today has graduated high school and is doing great things. We could not have expected to come this far and we could not have done it without the amazing community weโ€™ve built.

A special thank you also goes out to Dr. Rosie and Mr. Neil, who have spent countless hours developing curriculum, training teachers, dedicating weekends and evenings to maintenance, keeping up with ever changing regulations, and stepping in wherever is needed to keep things running smoothly and bring back beloved events year after year.

Hereโ€™s to another year filled with laughter, love, and fun!

P.S. Can anyone tell where these locations are in present day KPT?

There is something about an empty, freshly arranged classroom that feels full of possibility.

Before the children arrive, our teachers are already thinking about how they will move through the room, where they will gather, where they will build, pretend, read, create, rest, and find a little space of their own when they need it.

Every shelf moved, every center arranged, every material chosen and every little detail has a purpose:

And right now? It may look a little quiet.

But not for long. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Soon these rugs will be covered with blocks and puzzles. The dramatic play area will have a story happening in every corner. The shelves won't stay quite this perfectly organized. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And this room will be filled with conversations, discoveries, friendships, laughter, and learning.

Our teachers have been hard at work getting everything ready.

The classrooms are waiting.

The teachers are ready.

Now we just need the most important part โ€” ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ป.โค๏ธ

Some of you are walking into kindergarten for the very first time. Some are returning to familiar hallways a little taller, a little older, and ready for a brand-new year. And some of our former KPT kids are starting another chapter long after leaving our classrooms.

No matter where tomorrow takes you, we hope you walk through those doors knowing just how capable you are.

Be curious. Ask questions. Try things that feel hard. Make a new friend. Help someone who needs it. Laughโ€”a lot. And remember that making mistakes is part of figuring things out.

Parents, we know tomorrow can be a big day for you, too. โค๏ธ Whether you're celebrating, nervous, wondering how they possibly got this old already, or some combination of all threeโ€ฆ we're cheering you on as well.

This is what summer should feel like. โค๏ธ

Towels spread out in the sunshine. Water everywhere. Dinosaurs getting a very thorough bath. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Friends gathered together, making up games, talking, laughing, experimenting, and moving from one idea to the next.

Thereโ€™s something special about the kind of play that happens when children have time, space, friends, and permission to just PLAY.

They turn a tub of water into an entire world. They settle onto towels together and create something from whatever is nearby. They gather inside and suddenly a few friends become a whole game.

No finished product required. No two children have to play the same way. Just childhood unfolding exactly as it should. โ˜€๏ธ

Those are the summer days we hope they remember. ๐Ÿ’›
