Save the Date: Diné College, Molina Healthcare, Northern Navajo Royalty will be teaming up to host a Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Shiprock North Campus. Line up begins at 9 am and distribution begins at 10 am. The first 150 vehicles will receive grocery bags. Thank you!

DINÉ COLLEGE HOSTS EXCITING FRYBREAD CONTEST AT SHIPROCK SOUTH CAMPUS

Shiprock, NM. Diné College is thrilled to announce its upcoming Frybread Contest, a celebration of culinary skill, creativity, and tradition.

The event will take place on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Shiprock South Campus, located on Highway 64 @ College Road, Shiprock, NM 87420.

This exciting competition invites participants to showcase their frybread-making expertise in a fun and friendly environment. Contestants will be judged on appearance, texture, creativity, cleanliness, presentation, and taste.

The event promises to be a lively gathering for the community, filled with delicious frybread and spirited competition.

Event Details:
Date: Monday, September 29, 2025
Location: Shiprock South Campus, HWY 64 @ College Road, Shiprock, NM 87420

Onsite Registration: Begins at 1:30 PM (First Come, First Served)

Contest Sessions:
Session 1: 3:00 PM
Session 2: 4:00 PM
Session 3: 5:00 PM
Grand Finale Session: 6:00 PM (Winners of Sessions 1, 2, and 3 compete for the grand prize)

Contestant Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older
Possess a valid Food Handlers Permit
Be able to build a fire

Provided Materials:
Flour, salt, baking powder, shortening/oil, firewood, and water

What to Bring:
Grill, bowls, fork, cup, dish towels, oven mitts, and apron

How to Participate:
The contest is open to all frybread enthusiasts who meet the requirements. Registration is onsite and in-person, starting at 1:30 PM.

Space is limited to 6 contestants per session, so we encourage early arrival.

Judging Criteria:
Participants will be evaluated on:
Appearance
Texture
Skill Set
Creativity
Cleanliness
Presentation and Taste
