Just a reminder that Parent Teacher conferences for SAMS are Tuesday and Wednesday this week!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Shippensburg Area School District’s number one priority is keeping your child safe. Here is one more way we strive to do that. We have been working in partnership with our local fire departments for many years. We have a fantastic safety system in place. James Burd Elementary School started the Nicole Wilson Smoke Detector Fund many years ago, in memory of a student who lost her life in a fire in 1999. We help provide money for smoke detectors and with that money, the firefighters see that residents in need receive smoke detectors.

If your family does not have a smoke detector, you may call any of the three stations: Vigilant 717.532.2345, West End 717.532.5555, or Cumberland Valley 717.532.5353. If you would rather give the information to us to pass along to the fire department, please complete the Smoke Detector Request Form and return it to your child’s school by Friday, October 30, 2020. (Hard copies of the form are available in the office at your child’s school.) Someone will be in touch with you to set up a time to deliver your smoke detector(s).

If you are not in need of a smoke detector at this time and would like to make a donation to help with our fund, it would be greatly appreciated. Send cash or checks made payable to: Shippensburg Fire Safety Ed. Task Force to your child’s school by October 30.

Middle School students - Any student interested in participating in a winter sport which includes Boys or Girls Basketball or Wrestling needs to complete the appropriate paperwork.
