Hey Band Alumni! Is your instrument calling out to you from the case in the back of your closet? Let's face it, it misses you and you miss it. But did you know that FLC is starting the second year of Symphonic Wind Ensemble led by the fantastic Dr. Redfield? This is a "no audition" ensemble open to FLC students, dual enrollments AND community members. The course is MUP 340 rehearsing Thursdays from 6:00–9:00 p.m. Students in this ensemble will also participate in recording sessions, clinics, and performances on the beautiful stages of the Harris Center for the Performing Arts. The first rehearsal is Thursday, August 27th. Community members enroll at FLC as a one- or two-semester student. So go polish that brass, dig out your reeds and go find your people like you did back in high school.

Good luck to all our friends in Ponderosa FFA who are in the show ring today at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. It’s been fun hearing all the noises from the barn this spring and we can’t wait to get up to the fair this weekend to see your awards!

Only 19 Fridays until the Gold Pan football game, but who’s counting? Ponderosa Football?
Can’t wait that long to hear the music? Come join us tomorrow on the Ponderosa campus for our 11th Annual Gold Country Jazz Festival! The music kicks off at 8AM and goes all day in both the large gym and the cafeteria. Grab your morning pick-me-up with Santoro Coffee and stay for our famous pulled pork served during the lunch hour. You haven’t lived until you’ve had our pulled pork nachos! Pondo Jazz I closes the show on the main stage at 3:25PM. Festival passes are $12 which is the best money you can spend to hear some of the best student jazz musicians from across the Sacramento region. See you Saturday!!!

Twas the night before CHAMPS and all through the band room, all the students were stirring because they have a really early call time!
Good luck to our favorite Hiders & Seekers, Chess players, and Femme Fatales. Show them how we do it in El Dorado County and leave no crumbs!
