The focus of the program is to provide real world, hands on functional life skills. These skills are reinforced daily and teacher supported based on each individual student and their personal needs. Each student in the program has specific goals and outcomes depending upon their ability level. In addition there is a focus on School Wide Jobs:
•There are 21 different jobs throughout the school.

Students apply for jobs monthly, mock interview and complete the jobs for one month’s time.
•Each job can easily transfer to community and into the home life.
•Promotes responsibility and positive self-growth.
•Technology is utilized for independence. The Work for Independence Program and our Community Work Sites:

•Promotes responsibility, exposure to different work environments, social interactions with a variety of ages and appropriate socially acceptable behaviors with proper support.
•On site learning, a hand on learning equals success and independence.
•Community work sites can results in employment after graduation or volunteer opportunities.
•We have 9 community based volunteer experiences throughout the community.
•All students are accompanied by our job coach and supported for a successful and meaningful experience while working at each placement. Transition and what does it mean?
•Each family will work one on one with a transition team to assess and determine what life may be like once a student leaves the JPII Center.
•Each student works to develop a Resume, cover letter and picture portfolio upon graduation.
•Planning for the future of a young adult with special needs is an ongoing and in-depth process.
•The transition process is very individualized for each JPII student.
•For life skill students, it means getting ready for post school life.
•It involves all skills from low level (which may never be mastered) such as dressing and selecting the appropriate clothing in the morning to more complex skills like holding a job in a community setting.
•Each student is an individual with many individual needs. Transition is giving a student a chance to try a job to see if they like it. If you ask any of the students what they are planning to do after graduation, they will tell you they want to work at one of our JPII work sites.

Yesterday, was a busy dat. Nathaniel helped me set up the Advent Retreat so that everything would be ready bright and early for the retreat today!

Today Cynthia, Nathan, Dominic, Luiz, Miss Arianna, and Miss Elena helped serve an amazing spread for the Woman’s Advent Retreat for the Diocese of Allentown. Over 250+ attended this beautiful event. This all happened at Saint Francis of Assisi in Allentown. Team work really does make the dream work!
Happy start to the third week of Advent!

Just dropped off the JPII wreath at Glick’s.
Nature’s Blessings is the theme this year. Can’t wait to see what Glick’s does for the show. I am sure it will be absolutely beautiful! 🎄🎄🎄

Every picture and item on the wreath is from the JPII garden. We love Mary’s garden and we love our garden friends that keep it amazing.♥️
