Hey Shickley FFA - Complete celebrate the new school year at the pool! Shickley FFA is hosting our Back to School Pool Party on August 13 at the Shickley Pool starting at 7:00 pm. Free entry. Pizza, pop, and ice cream provided. Open to incoming 7th graders through 12th graders. We can’t wait to see you!

It was a hot final two days to the Fillmore County Fair but Shickley FFA finished with a bang! Lynley showed a steer feeder calf in the FFA Show on Sunday. She was selected as the Champion FFA Beef Showman and the Champion FFA Feeder Calf. She then competed in the Round Robin Showmanship contest this morning. She did an amazing job and was the Fillmore County Round Robin Champion! Way to go Lynley. Lynley and Hailey also did a great job with Herdsmanship and were the Sheep/Goat Barn winners. Then to finish out the day Hailey was the the Supreme and Reserve 4-H Lamb Exhibitor. Both Lynley and Hailey had a great fair!

Today was the Swine Show at the Fillmore County Fair. Emmett Mussman showed his Breeding Gilt and was Reserve Champion Breeding Gilt. Great job Emmett. Tomorrow is Beef Day.

Shickley FFA kicked off the Fillmore County Fair with the Sheep Show this morning. Lynley Swartzendruber and Hailey Miller had a great day in the ring with results including Lynley having Grand Champion Breeding Ewe, Grand Champion Market Lamb, and Reserve Champion Market Lamb and Grand and Reserve Champion Carcass. Hailey had several purples including 3rd place in Showmanship and having Grand and Reserve Rate of Gain Lambs in the 4-H show. Even more impressive is how well Hailey showed with a broken hand! Kelsey Ellison also showed this morning in the 4-H show and had a wonderful day for her first time. In addition, we had a couple of alumni help decorate our FFA Bale for the week. Great job girls!

Shickley FFA always starts summer by helping out at Ag Safety Day in Geneva. Yesterday 10 FFA members helped out by either presenting to the groups or being group leaders. They all had a great day and the kids enjoyed the day as well.

Shickley FFA will host its annual Tree Mulching on May 18 after school. The FFA is desperate need of help with this project. We need both people to help and equipment. We are looking for someone with a skid steer, 3 side x sides, rakes, shovels and people to help put the mulch out. If you or your student is available to help with this project, please contact Ms. Schrock.

For the first time in a few years, Shickley FFA will be offering a limited number of plants for sale. We have a variety of succulents and a few flowering plants available. They are each $5. The greenhouse will be open starting tomorrow 5/7 after school. Please stop by to pick out your plants. Let Ms. Schrock know if you have any questions.

Shickley FFA has had a busy first two days of State FFA Convention. It kicked off bright and early Wednesday morning with the Conduct of Chapter Meeting team competing. Then Hailey and Lakota each gave their individual speeches. All of them did a great job and we will know tomorrow how they did. The Farm Business and Management team also competed yesterday afternoon. We then got to celebrate our 5 seniors receiving their State FFA Degrees. This degree is earned with a combination of their SAE program, FFA involvement and community service. This the highest degeee that a student can be awarded at the state level. Thursday started with the Meats team competing at East Campus. We will find out results later this week. Great job everyone!
