We’ve been super busy at the end of this school year, but we couldn’t be so busy to not build our mom’s a special gift for Mother’s Day. Each student, including me, built their mom one of this hanging flower baskets. Each basket was filled a beautiful Boston fern. We will always take time to recognize our moms. We love you, moms!!!

Last week’s Build Night was a lot of fun. I couldn’t have pulled it off without a lot of help and support. Thanks Brook Weishaar - State Farm Agentent for sponsoring the event, The Saucy Pig for cooking, my parents, Beth and Carl Collins for helping with the ice cream, and my students for instructing the builders.

I’m looking forward to doing it again but more organized next time. Here’s a photo dump. GO BEARS!!!

This is my third post today. I’m on fire.

Tomorrow, I am hosting our first annual Teacher Build Night. When we built the planter boxes, we received a lot of interest from the teachers. I thought it was a great idea to invite all the teachers from Sylvan Hills Middle, Sylvan Hills Junior, and Sylvan Hills High School. My construction students will teach the teachers how to build a planter box. That’s over 200 teachers, and I feel like half of them are coming. We are going to have a blast! It’s going to be a cookout/make and take/ice cream party!!!

This is all being made possible from generous donations from Weishaar and Brook Weishaar - State Farm Agent and The Saucy Pig.

I’m excited to post about our team project with the Sylvan Hills Garden Club. The construction class built 40 cedar planter boxes. We then teamed up with the Garden Club to fill the boxes with dirt and beautiful plants. As a group they made quick work of the project. After the boxes were planted, they were scattered all over the city.

This amazing project was made possible by donations from William Mike Corker, Marina and Tom Brooks, and NLR Lowe’s Home Improvement.

Here comes a photo dump. My students are better carpenters than photographers. Lol

Good morning. I’d like to give a big shoutout to Maria at the McCain Lowe’s Home Improvement Center. She always finds the best deals for me and my class’s construction projects. She is by far the best at the Pro Desk. If you don’t have a Lowe’s Pro account, you need to get one and go see Maria.

Last month for St Patrick’s Day, the construction class gifted the boys and girls soccer team with four leaf clovers. We want to wish them good luck this season. Both teams had a blowout win that night!

We used the Christmas tree scrap pallet lumber from the earlier project. It was already green. We made 50 clovers using the band saws. It was fun!

The soccer boys never sent a pic. Lol

GO BEARS!!!

It’s been about 6 weeks since my last post. Rest assured that we have still been working. We met our deadline for the hat racks for softball and baseball. I posted several pictures of softball. Here’s some of the baseball team.

In total, we built 67 hat racks for the two teams. It was the biggest project of the year!
