🎨The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA) recently announced “The AMFA Classroom,” a free education program launching at Sylvan Hills Elementary School and two other local schools during the 2026-2027 school year. AMFA also unveiled a new campaign, “More Than a Museum,” positioning the museum as a cultural destination for both locals and tourists and an economic driver for Arkansas. 📚

We are so thankful to have internet service restored today, but teachers made the most of yesterday while it was down. Here are two examples from Sylvan Hills Elementary.

In Mrs. Puckett's class, students walked around to music and when it stopped, they had to work a problem on the desk in front of them.

In Mrs. Yingling's class, they used multiple role-playing scenarios, including the telephone game, to reinforce communication skills such as eye contact, body language, respect and conflict resolution.

Open House was a huge success! It was wonderful welcoming our students and families back to Sylvan Hills Elementary. The excitement, smiles, and positive energy made the evening truly special. Thank you to our amazing staff for preparing welcoming classrooms and to our families for partnering with us.

Each week during the school year, we participate in AVID Wednesday. Staff and students wear their favorite college or career shirt to show where their goals can take them. 🎓👕💼

We had a wonderful first day of school! Superintendent Jeff Senn and other PCSSD Central Office administrators checked in on the entire Sylvan Hills Feeder system today, so they also started off the new school year strong!

It’s Signing Day in Bear Country! Our newest Kindergarten Cubs signed their official commitment letters and proudly became Sylvan Hills Bears! We are beyond excited to welcome our newest Cubs to the SHES family! CLASS OF 2039!

A special THANK YOU to the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce and all the sponsors for showing our staff so much love! We laughed, enjoyed a delicious lunch, danced, and won some amazing gifts. We are off to a great start to the school year!
