This might be a game changer for people with autism!!!please consider this as teachers! Message me if you are a parent, teacher or caregiver of a person with autism. I need a few more participants for my prototype pilot!
We know that most students with autism/other diverse-learning-needs, work more effectively in a structured working environment (Hume & Odom, 2007). To help serve this population, I would like to offer you my newly developed work system-The Topper (patent pending, trade mark pending). I would like to pilot test this work system in April 2020. With your help, I will be able to advance my idea using your input and recommendations. With the Topper, you will have everything your students need to be successful in one portable, re-usable unit. It simply sets on the student's desk, lab table, work area, or testing area. It has a built-in task schedule area, in-box, out-box or done-box, technology pouch, and an area for task materials. It will fit a standard-sized desk and is easily stored.
The prototype that you will receive will come to you in cardboard form; however, the true Topper will be made of plastic with removable/adjustable work systems. The Topper package will come to you with a Social Story (Carol Gray), instructions on why it works and how it works, a data collection system, and a survey link that you would kindly complete at the end of April 2020. Just simply use it and let me know what you think. Keep the Topper as a gift and look for the true "Topper" in stores near you!
