The VVS Community Rotary Club’s “Rotary Shack” will open this Saturday, July 25th at approximately 5:30 PM and will close promptly at 8:30 PM for the Sherrill Fireworks Concert!

On Thursday, July 16th, VVS Rotarians gathered at the Oneida Public Library for our evening meeting. First, we heard a wonderful presentation from the KEYS Program, a nonprofit organization that brings music, hope, and joy to children affected by cancer through music outreach, education, and advocacy.

Next, we had the honor of presenting Cathi Brewer, the director of the VVS Corner Library, with our 2026 Vocational Award. Cathi has worked diligently to provide a welcoming and lively public library for the VVS community. The Library has partnered with Rotary on several projects such as the Dolly Parton Imagination Library project and our Paint and Sip this past February. Congratulations Cathi and thank you for everything you do for our community!

On July 2nd, VVS Rotary held its traditional Changing of the Guard meeting to celebrate Olivia Furman’s term as president and welcome in Kate Frymoyer as our President for 2026-2027. Tracy Dam Chieco is stepping up as our President-Elect for 2026-2027 as well. We are grateful for the dedication of Secretary Dennis Schonewetter and Treasurer Bob Dewaine as they will be continuing in their roles for the next Rotary year as well. It has been a busy and exciting year for us, and we can’t wait for what the next Rotary year has in store! 🎉

The Sherrill Summer Concert series has officially started! Be sure to visit the Rotary Shack for hot dogs, sodas, ice cream, and more 🌭🥤 🍨. When you support Rotary, you’re helping to fund our local and worldwide community service projects and VVS student scholarships!

Concerts are Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm to about 8:30 pm at Reilly-Mumford park. Next concert is July 7th.

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! Thanks to all of the community members that helped REDUCE plastic waste by RECYCLING plastic bags and film so it could all be REUSED to make this beautiful bench! Come take a load off during the Sherrill Concert Series (like our current President Olivia Furman) and enjoy what 1,000 pounds of plastic recycling has produced, courtesy of Trex.

A huge thank you to the VVS Corner Library for being the designated drop-off point for the plastic recycling. And thank you to the City of Sherrill for assembling the bench for all to enjoy.

Last Thursday we honored our Students of the Month. Our guest speaker was Past President Sam Netzband who shared her journey from VVS to her current career as a Contact Manager.

The Rotarians enjoyed hearing all about our middle and high school awardees current accolades and plans beyond after school. It’s always great to connect to VVS students.

Yesterday, VVS Community Rotary Club members Elise and Sam participated in the EPIC Day of Service with Oneida Rotarians and community members. The team helped plant flowers at two different parks in Oneida.
