Thanks to everyone who attended the end of the year party last week. It wrapped up another great season! We look forward to seeing the kids in their other sports the next few months and we look forward to seeing them back on the mat next Winter!

Thanks to all the wrestlers and parents for supporting our wrestling club.

Next weekend there is a tournament in Quincy if anyone is interested.

Yesterday’s Sherrard Open Tournament was a huge success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our wrestling families and other members of the community!

A big Thank You to everyone who helped organize, volunteer, participate, and coach our Sherrard wrestlers on throughout the day. Running two gyms this year seemed to work great and we could not have done that without the extra help we received from the volunteers.

We also want to give a special shoutout to Diamond Ag in Aledo for their generous donation of two bikes that were raffled off. We appreciate their sponsorship!

Because of all of you, this event was not only fun and competitive, but meaningful as well. All proceeds from the tournament go right back into supporting our kids and growing our program, helping create more opportunities for our athletes.

Next weekend will be the Orion Open Tournament and after that our season will be concluded. Our Wrestling Club Banquet will be Friday April 10th at the Sherrard High School Gym 3. Please try to sign up the next few days so we can have a good idea on how many people to expect.

*VOLUNTEER INFORMATION*

Friday Night Set up: we will begin rolling out the mats out around 5 tomorrow night for those that are able to help

Registration Volunteers: Please arrive by 6:45am Saturday morning as weigh ins begin at 7am. There will be a short meeting at 6:45 explaining some changes to the registration process.

Bracket Volunteers: Please arrive by 7:30 am. **If you have a laptop with Excel, please bring it if you are able. I don't think we will need as many as last year, but it would be nice to have them just in case.**

Table Workers: Please be there by 8:00 am. There will be a meeting in the Junior High Wrestling room at 8:15 prior to the start of wrestling. Weigh-ins finish at 8:00 and we will begin wrestling as soon as brackets are ready to go.

Money Collectors: Please arrive by 6:45am. People will start arriving around this time for weigh-ins.

If you have any other questions, please reach out!

Thank you again for everyone who has volunteered to help at our tournament this weekend! It takes every one of you to make this a successful event!

Our tournament is this Saturday, and we still need volunteers!! This is our main fundraiser for the wrestling program. We still need people to help complete brackets, work the registration table, collect money for spectators at the door, and work concessions.

The Sherrard Jr. Tiger Wrestling Club was well represented this past weekend at the IKWF State Wrestling Championships. 5 wrestlers brought home medals from the tournament.

Congratulations:

Haven Howlett 4th place
Izabella Gustafson 3rd place
Lainey Lowery 8th place
Audrey Foster 4th place
Eliza Gustafson 2nd place

Tough way to end the State Tournament, but we couldn’t be more proud of Karsten Sanquist and Rhett Zimmerman. They battled all the way to the bloodrounds and fell just one match short of the podium. They should be proud of all they accomplished this year and their bright future.

Our Sherrard Jr. Tiger Wrestlers had a good day 1 at the IKWF State Wrestling Meet!

**Semifinalists (guaranteed medals):**
Eliza Gustafson, Audrey Foster, and Haven Howlett.

**Bloodrounds (one win away from a medal):**
Alaina Lowery, Izabella Gustafson, Rhett Zimmerman, and Karsten Sanquist.

Abe and Rowen Leingang’s tournaments have come to an end, but both battled hard and represented our program with pride on the state stage this weekend. They are tough kids with a bright future ahead of them!
