🥜🍫🌻 TRAIL MIX DAY AT SMS! 🌻🍫🥜
Today, we mixed things up at Sherman Middle School with a little Trail Mix Day fun! 🎉 Our staff got to create their own delicious trail mix with all kinds of tasty treats and goodies!
Sometimes it’s the little things that make the day a little sweeter! 💛 Thank you to Blake Utter Ford, SMS PTA, and our very own Sunshine Committee who helped make this fun treat happen!

Friday, we kicked off our first Potluck and Birthday Celebration of the school year with a little BOTA flair! 🤠🎉
We celebrated our July and August birthdays with lots of amazing food, plenty of laughter, and a whole lot of fun! There’s nothing better than taking time to gather together and celebrate our incredible SMS family. ❤️🖤🎂
Good food + great people + lots of laughs = a perfect Friday!

🤠🐻 BOTA WEEK — DAY 2! 🪓🔥
Today was Western Wear Day, and our Bearcats definitely COWBOY’D UP! 🤠🐴
We had an AMAZING turnout today! From boots and hats to full-on Western looks, SMS showed up ready to have some fun and bring the BOTA spirit! 🖤🤠
The energy is building, and we’re just getting started! 🔥

🥫 BOTA Canned Food Drive Competition has started!🐾
It’s time for a little friendly competition as we kick off our Battle of the Ax (BOTA) Canned Food Drive! 🥫🏆
We are challenging our Bearcat Advisory classes to see who can bring in the most canned goods!
🏆 What’s at Stake?
The Bearcat Advisory Teacher whose class collects the MOST canned goods will win:
👖 2 EXTRA JEANS PASSES for the teacher
🍿 A POPCORN PARTY for the winning class!
Every can counts, so encourage your students to bring in as many canned goods as possible. Let’s make this a fun competition while supporting a great cause!

Important safety information for our students and families!

🚲⚡ KNOW BEFORE YOU RIDE! ⚡🏍️

As we return to school for another great year, the Sherman ISD Police Department wants to help keep our students, families, and community safe—both on campus and on the road.

With e-bikes and electric motorcycles becoming more popular, it’s important to know the difference and know the law. Not every electric two-wheeled vehicle is considered a legal e-bike under Texas law. Some may be classified as motor vehicles and require registration, insurance, and the appropriate licensing.

📌 Parents and students: Please take a few minutes to review the attached flyer together. Understanding the rules before you ride can help prevent citations, accidents, and other serious consequences.

✅ Know what you’re riding.
✅ Follow Texas traffic laws.
✅ Wear the proper safety equipment.
✅ Ride responsibly and watch for pedestrians and vehicles.
✅ When in doubt, ask before you ride!

As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, let’s all do our part to make the trip to and from school as safe as possible.

🎉 WELCOME TO THE BEARCAT FAMILY! 🐾❤️
Friday was a BIG first for Sherman Middle School our first-ever New Teacher Round Table! 🎉
We gathered all of our newest Bearcats faculty together during their workday for a special opportunity to learn all things SMS and Sherman ISD. And because we know their students still needed to be taken care of, our fearless leader, Dr. Smith, stepped up and took ALL of their students to the auditorium so our new teachers could have this dedicated time to learn, ask questions, connect, and breathe! 🙌
Leading our new teacher crew were our amazing Mrs. Jordan and Mrs. Pollard, who shared the ins and outs of SMS, answered questions, offered guidance, and helped our newest team members begin finding their footing in their new home. ❤️
And because we wanted to make sure our newest Bearcats knew just how excited we are to have them, each teacher received their very own $50 SMS Warehouse Gift Card! 🎁
These funds can be used for items from our amazing warehouse to help make their days a little easier and their classrooms even more equipped for success.
There was learning happening, questions being answered, connections being made, and maybe even a few nerves and first-year jitters being calmed along the way. 😊
Starting somewhere new can feel overwhelming, but our goal is simple: you don't have to figure it out alone.

☀️💛 THE SUNSHINE CART IS ROLLING! 💛☀️
Today, our Sunshine Cart made its way around Sherman Middle School, delivering a little sunshine, treats, and treasures to some pretty amazing people! 🛒✨
It may be a small gesture, but we hope it reminded our SMS staff just how much they are appreciated, valued, and loved. ❤️
Our staff pours so much into our students every single day, and we are so grateful for each and every one of our Bearcats’ biggest cheerleaders! 🐾
Sometimes all it takes is a little treat, a little treasure, and a whole lot of SUNSHINE to brighten someone’s day! ☀️🌟
