A tremendous Mazel Tov to Adam & Debbie Fenner on the occasion of Alex’s Bar Mitzvah! What a phenomenal job he did leading the congregation and reading the Torah.

Mazel Tov to the honored grandparents on both sides, and we wish a Refuah Shleimah to grandpa Fenner who will join the celebration on Shabbat G-d willing.

Mazel Tov!

Look at all the smiling faces! Every Sunday, Chabad Hebrew School of the Arts bring Judaism alive for all our precious boys and girls.

Today, we focused on understanding how the Hebrew dates of the Jewish holidays work with the Gregorian calendar. A fun game of darts helped the students identify the general time of any holiday on their own.

The oldest class took a field trip with Rabbi Yossi to to explore all the Judaica items related to each of the holidays. Thank you Rabbi Cohen for showing us around and for even giving the boys a sneak peek at different pairs of Tefillin that they will buy for their Bar Mitzvah!

As we near the end of our school year, the kids began working on their Israel-themed projects for the annual Art Fair.

And of course, Hebrew School is not complete without reading time. Amazing to see the progress over the last few months!

Mazel Tov to Rabbi & Rebbetzin Teitelbaum as their son Sholom begins putting on Tefillin! 💪🏻

In Chabad custom, young boys begin to wrap Tefillin daily two months before their Bar Mitzvah, so they can practice and become fluent in this precious Mitzvah.

Morning prayers were followed by a beautiful breakfast, and Sholom recited the traditional Maamar (chasidic discourse) in honor of the occasion.

Looking forward to celebrating the Bar Mitzvah very soon!

Please join us on Sunday evening for a double celebration, marking Tu Bishvat, the new year for trees, and the Siyum Harambam, conclusion of the daily study cycle of Maimonides’ Mishneh Torah.

We will be especially saluting the group of dedicated students who have gathered each morning for the last three years with Rabbi Yossi, to learn the entire 14 books of the Rambam.

All welcome on Sunday, 6pm at Chabad.

Would you believe me if I told you that rabbis spent their time:

💦 Studying HYDROLOGY in Egypt (1548)?

📝 Learning VETERINARY SCIENCE in Austria (1763)?

🪦 Fighting BURIAL HYSTERICS in Germany (1772)?

🐓 Searching for a CHICKEN in Cyprus (1866)?

🚢 Debating SHIP MECHANICS in Israel (1952)?

Lesson 1 of our new course “Captivating Cases” was RIVETING. But Lesson 2 is going to be even BETTER.

What causes the annual Nile Swell? Who is considered dead after the Titanic sinking? And when does Jewish law accept or ignore the realities at hand?

It’s all happening TONIGHT - join us, you can still register even if you missed last week!

Check link in bio for details and registration.

Have you ever been to a Jewish Mall?

At Chabad of Sherman Oaks – Hebrew School of the Arts, our students experienced a one-of-a-kind journey where Jewish learning came to life.

Each student received a JEWISH PRIDE 🛍️shopping bag and then visited different stores, where at one they created personalized bracelets with their Jewish names, picked up a cup of kosher “coffee,” built their own Shema cards, and even made a stop at “Target” to purchase Shabbat candles and record the candle-lighting time.. plus Jewish music playing in the background!

All of this took place as part of our study of Jewish history exploring the Jewish exile following the destruction of the First Temple and the immense challenge of maintaining Jewish pride and identity outsideof Israel. Through the story of our Jewish hero, Daniel the Prophet, students learned the timeless lesson of standing tall, embracing who we are, and carrying our heritage with pride, even in the face of adversity.

As we prepare for our upcoming Friday Night Family Dinner (tomorrow night!), students also baked fresh challah, practiced Hebrew reading and writing, and showed remarkable progress we are so proud of.

At Hebrew School of the Arts, we don’t just teach Judaism, we help our students live it, love it, and learn it.

It was so great to see all those beautiful and SMILING FACES our students back at Chabad of Sherman Oaks - Hebrew School of the Arts, with classes back in session to learn, grow and connect with their Jewish Heritage!

In our Israel Quest curriculum, we learned all about Eliyahu Hanavi and the great showdown he held in Northern Israel, when he miraculously brought down a fire from heaven! 🔥

We did a really cool (safe) hands on experiment where the fire revealed the words that all the Jews cried out (and we all say each Yom Kippur) “Hashem is the only true G-d!”

Congratulations to our students who passed a level in our Aleph Champ reading program:
🔴 Red level - Aryeh D and Ariel B.
🔵 Blue level - Gigi C. and Rachel T.
🟣 Purple level - Elli L.

Happy 6th Birthday Ellie Cohen! We loved celebrating with you! Thanks for the yummy kosher popsicles!
