Nothing like spending the Saturday before school starts showing lambs at the Arkansas State Fair Summer Swelter.

Brooklyn Hooks placed 6th in Class 19 and 5th in Class 21 with her two Black Face Cross Wethers.

Holley Burris placed 4th in Class 23 with her Black Face Cross Wether.

Both girls fought hard in two tough classes of senior showmanship.

Keep it up girls! It’s going to be a fun show season!

Chapter Officers Aubrey Ottens and Ben Wilson are making great connections and building leadership skills this week at Chapter President’s Conference. The had the privilege today to speak with Senator Crowell and many more during a tour of our State Capital.

We had a great time today at the SES Reading Round Up!

Anna Phelps and Aubrey Ottens taught students about reading labels and mixing feed rations using a custom recipe. Student even got to take home a sample of their specialty bird seed ration.

Riggin Denis and Sam Bennett taught the students (and teachers) how to read a rodeo Order of Events and how to run the barrel pattern on our trusty FFA chapter stick horse, Princess Cupcake.

We are pleased to announce the return of the Grant County Youth Broiler Project. This program offers a valuable opportunity for young individuals to learn about raising and growing broiler chickens from hatch to processing. Participants will receive 15 one-day-old meat-type chicks and will be responsible for raising them for approximately 7 weeks, starting in early August. Additionally, participants will be expected to bring three broilers to compete at the Grant County Fair.

We will also be hosting a workshop to provide guidance on the best management practices for raising broiler chickens and developing showmanship skills. The project is open to any Grant County 4-H member or Sheridan FFA student and serves as an excellent introduction to production agriculture.
