Calling all former FFA members and alumni!! Please check your closets for borrowed official dress. If you have a jacket without a name on it, it mostly likely belongs to the chapter. We would love any stray ties or scarves that you have as well!

‼️ Grant highlight ‼️
The MCW ag ed program received a $10,000 Small Town grant from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation last spring and work has been underway to complete the requirements of the grant.

Part 1 of the grant included ordering 7 benches to place along the walking path behind the new school. These benches will memorialize people that had trees or memorials in their honor at the current high school location, which had to be removed for the construction project. We worked with an MCW alum, Justin Hansen, who owns Hansen Manufacturing in Ormsby to have the benches made.

Part 2 of the grant will include building several cedar picnic tables for the outdoor classroom area behind the new school. The wood has been ordered and a wood shop class will be building the tables this fall. More to come on that part soon!

Ms Tewes’ classes have been very busy lately.

First off, Real World Ready class has been baking up a storm. We are in a fruits and veggies unit and they ended today by eating the banana bread that they baked. They also love distributing it to teachers and staff in the building.

Next is the middle school classes. Ag 8 is making step stools with partners and using different shop tools. A big fear seems to be the miter saw but they have been getting more comfortable with it. Then in Ag 7, they are starting to work on cutting out their CO2 cars.

What a busy week with Friday yet to come!
