Every time you PCS, you may have to learn a brand-new state's homeschool laws; new deadlines, new paperwork, new risk of falling out of compliance just for following orders.
The COMPASS Act (S. 4783 / H.R. 9351) would let military homeschool families follow either their new state's laws or their state of legal residence when they move, the same flexibility already given for taxes, voting, and driver's licenses.
The bill is still in committee and hasn't been added to this year's defense bill yet. Senators need to hear from families like yours before they head back to Washington in September.
Our friends at HSLDA made it simple: it only takes a couple of minutes to email your Senators and ask them to support the COMPASS Act. If you've got a story about moving with a homeschooling family, share it, it makes a real difference.

Thank you to Sens. Cruz, Budd, and Moody, and Rep. Harrigan for leading this fight, and to HSLDA for driving this advocacy push alongside MCEC and the Military Homeschoolers Association.
