Shepherd Students - Here is how you can continue the conversation about Consent?
Our video has multiple students sharing that consent isn't just a baseline rule—it’s an ongoing conversation. And a real 'yes' has to be freely given every single time. That means if someone agrees because they feel pressured, worn down, or guilty...that isn’t consent. That’s coercion. Coercion sounds like: 'If you really loved me, you’d do this.' or 'Everyone else is doing it, don't make it weird.'
Silence isn't a yes. Hesitation isn't a yes. 'I guess so' isn't a yes.
Consent should be clear, enthusiastic, and completely reversible at any moment.
Respect the boundary.
Check in often.
If you’re unsure, here are some ways to check in.
Remind your partner, “It’s okay if don’t want to do this”.
Help us create a campus culture where everyone is respected...A campus where we help keep each other safe.
