The 2026 Scarborough Society Gala was held at the Bavarian Inn on Friday, August 14. This year's event was themed after the J.G. Ballard short story "The Garden of Time." Thanks to the generous gifts of our presenting sponsors Jefferson Security Bank, Snyder Environmental Services LLC, United Bank, WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center, and Al Lueck; our gold, silver, and bronze sponsors; and our guests and private donations, the Gala was able to raise over $41,000 for the Scarborough Library.

This week's Scholar Spotlight shines on music performance major Cristopher Dale Auen. Christopher is a recipient of the Randall Wadsworth Music Scholarship. This award was established by Randall Wadsworth, husband of former Shepherd University President Suzanne Shipley, in support of students studying music at Shepherd University.

"Without the generosity of the Shepherd community I would be unable to finish my degree. Upon completion, I will be the first in my family to have a degree," said Christopher.
