Hi everyone! My name is Dakota Strawderman, and I am currently a Level 1 nursing student. SUSNA has been a part of my college journey since the very beginning, and this semester I’m excited to serve as SUSNA’s Treasurer! I’m looking forward to being more involved, helping support our organization, and making the most of this experience with my fellow nursing students! Today, we honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless heroes who stepped forward to serve and protect others.

We remember the victims, their families, the first responders, military members, healthcare professionals, and every individual whose life was forever changed.

As future nurses, we are reminded of the courage, compassion, and selflessness shown during one of our nation’s darkest days.

Today, we celebrate the dedication, hard work, and contributions of workers who help keep our communities strong. From healthcare professionals and educators to first responders, essential workers, and everyone in between—we thank you for all that you do.

As student nurses, we are especially grateful for the nurses who inspire us every day through their compassion, resilience, and commitment to caring for others. Your work makes a difference in countless lives and continues to shape the next generation of nurses.

To every nurse working this Labor Day weekend: thank you for showing up, caring deeply, and making a difference—even on the days when no one sees it. And to our fellow nursing students, keep pushing forward. The work we are doing today is preparing us for the impact we will make tomorrow. 💙
