Week #6

Whew… this week was ROUGH. 😂 Like, one of those weeks where you’re just counting down until Friday and wondering how you’re going to make it through the next five minutes. There were definitely some stressful moments, some chaos, and a few times where I thought, “Okay… we’re just going to roll with it.” - Thanks NWEA!!!

But honestly? We are so happy with how this week happened.

Because mixed in with all the craziness were some pretty hilarious moments. One of our favorites was watching the students make a TikTok about one of their teachers becoming absolutely terrified of the word “apple.” 🍎😂 We're still not really sure how we got to that point, but somehow it became a whole production, and they had SO much fun making it.

And honestly, those are the moments we are going to remember. The random jokes, the ridiculous ideas, the laughing until we can barely get anything done, and having the students just have fun being themselves.

So yes, this week was exhausting. It even tested the students patience more than once. But it also gave us some pretty great memories. Sometimes the rough weeks end up being the ones you’re weirdly grateful for.

Week #5 ✔️

This week was a busy week for many of our students. To start the week off, Angie Evans from 95.3 CFX came in to interview several students on why they enjoy coming to our school 🎤. On Wednesday, students from our Michigan Uncovered class had a zoom meeting with Sean Ley, a development officer for the Greatlakes Shipwreck Historical Society ⛵️. (Great lakes shipwreck museum). This society was founded in 1978 and was designed to discover, document, and preserve shipwrecks within our great lakes. There were many other class events happening. Mitosis stop motion videos for science, ticket to ride in history, and in ASL students began learning their colors. To end off the week, teachers held their Professional Development in their jammies!!!

Just a reminder for this week. Tomorrow we begin NWEA testing. Please make sure that your students bring their chromebooks and chargers and that they have some water with them!

Be on the lookout within the next few days for our first FlexTech Commercial for the Haunted House!!!!

Week #1 ✔️

We had an ✨AMAZING✨ first week of school! 🎉 Our students jumped right in and made so many fun memories while learning new things!

In ASL, students learned their very first signs and were excited to practice signing the phrase “My first day of 2026–2027!” 🤟✨ It was so much fun watching everyone learn, practice, and build confidence with their new signs!

In Science, students got to learn all about lab safety… with a little bit of slime, of course! 🧪💚 Students had a blast making slime while learning important safety rules and practicing how to work safely in the lab.

What a fantastic start to the school year! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store!

Just a reminder, there are NO DROP IN HOURS TOMORROW (Friday 8/28)!! Please do not bring your students to school.

Day #1 ✔️

Despite spending a good chunk of our morning in the gym—which, let’s be honest, felt like it was approximately 200 degrees 🥵😂—and sitting through our yearly school information, we still managed to have an AMAZING first day!

Students had the chance to reconnect with their advisory groups, catch up with familiar faces, and, most importantly, start getting to know some of the new students joining our school community! It was so great to see the excitement, energy, and smiles throughout the building as everyone settled back into the swing of things.

In the afternoon, students jumped into their FlexTech Houses, where they spent time collaborating, communicating, and working together through fun team-building activities. It was the perfect way to kick off the year and get everyone thinking about what it means to be part of a team and a community!

While the first day may have been a little warm, a little busy, and filled with LOTS of information, we couldn't be more excited about the year ahead! There are so many opportunities, experiences, and memories waiting for our students, and we are SO incredibly thrilled to see where this year takes us!

Here’s to a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, teamwork, new friendships, and plenty of fun!
