Shepherd Band and Color Guard

10/01/2026

Good morning,
I wanted to provide an update on this week's events. As of right now, the football game tonight is going on as planned (6pm homecoming ceremony, 6:30pm game). If anything changes, I will update through SchoolStatus as soon as I know.

Now for the BIG IMPORTANT update, our competition on Saturday. Due to inclement weather, the competition has been POSTPONED to next Thursday, with the competition starting at 4pm. I have tentatively told the competition staff that we will be attending. When I receive more details, I will send them out. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

We love you Mr. A!

🏴‍☠️💙 STAFF PARKING SPOT OF THE WEEK 💙🏴‍☠️

We’re excited to kick off a new weekly tradition at Shepherd Middle School! ⭐

Each week, we’ll recognize a staff member who goes above and beyond to support our students, our staff, and our school community. As a special thank-you, our Staff Parking Spot of the Week will be reserved exclusively for that week’s honoree! 🚗✨

🏆 PREVIOUS WINNERS 🏆

A big shout-out to our first two Staff Parking Spot winners:

⭐ Mrs. Gutierres
⭐ Mrs. Crannie

Thank you both for the countless ways you make SMS a better place! 💙🏴‍☠️

⭐ THIS WEEK’S FEATURED STAFF MEMBER ⭐

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS, MR. ALEXANDER! 🎉

Mr. Alexander has shown himself to be a helpful hand in so many ways. He shows up, looks around, and asks, “Where can I help?”—and then jumps right in wherever he’s needed.

Recently, he spent time with our after-school club, helping students learn a new activity and giving his time and energy to make a difference beyond the regular school day.

Mr. Alexander isn’t afraid to speak his mind, but what really stands out is his willingness to look for a solution. He brings a desire to make things better, a willingness to help, and a readiness to step up when something needs to be done.

For showing up, lending a hand, supporting our students, and always looking for a way forward—

THANK YOU, MR. ALEXANDER! 💙

🅿️ YOUR VIP SPOT AWAITS! 🚗

And stay tuned… who will be our next Staff Parking Spot of the Week? 👀⭐

Good evening Pirates,
Due to continued monitoring of weather and road conditions, Shepherd ISD will operate on a 2-hour delayed start on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. This delay allows additional time for travel conditions to improve while prioritizing the safety of our students and staff. All campuses will begin the school day two hours later than normal, and bus routes will also run two hours later than their usual schedule: All campuses - Start time @ 9:45am
We will continue to monitor conditions throughout the morning and will communicate any additional updates as needed. Please continue to watch official Shepherd ISD communication channels for the latest information.
Thank you for your flexibility and support.
Stay safe, Pirate Nation.
