“My daddy was the smartest man I have ever known, but I knew his inability to read probably kept him from seeing all of his dreams come true."

That memory shaped everything she did and led her to fill so many homes with books. Through her Imagination Library, she sent free books to millions of kids for decades, sparking a love of reading before they even started school.

Thank you, Dolly, for reminding the world that a book in a child’s hands can change everything, and for caring so deeply about literacy! 🌈📖

Did you know there are six different types of syllables?! Sure, we’ve been clapping those out since we were young, but most of us probably didn’t realize why. Knowing the different syllable types — and being able to recognize them while reading — aids in decoding and organizing unknown words! In our language arts curriculum, we specifically teach these syllable types and work with students on identifying them within words as they decode. Now clap it with me — how many syllables are in the word FANTASTIC?! 🥳🤩🌳

“In a survey, teacher educators were asked how important it was for public school teachers to ‘teach phonics and phonemic awareness when teaching literacy in the early grades.’ Only 44% thought it was ‘absolutely essential.’” (Farkas & Duffett, 2010)

Less than half. That gap is why we take this seriously.

Our foundation at Wildwood is a strong, systematic phonics program that never asks kids to guess words from pictures and builds in mastery checkpoints along the way. We layer oral phonemic awareness and fun sound-stories to make tricky words click. I’m grateful for a program that goes beyond single syllable phonics in a fun and engaging way!

1. Set up a call or enrollment meeting to get all your questions answered and receive an enrollment packet! 🌳
2. Submit paperwork and enrollment fee to reserve your spot.
3. Student will take a quick assessment to determine which level they will be placed into.
4. Curriculum is ordered 📚
