We’ve joined the squishy trend! Shenandoah Elementary PTA is raffling off this fun squishy basket, and ticket sales kick off this Thursday at Literacy Night!

Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The basket includes RMS dumplings, NeeDohs, fidget spinners, a squishy duck, and a National Geographic science kit.

We’ll draw the winner after Trunk or Treat, so be sure to get your tickets! Thanks for supporting Shenandoah Elementary PTA! 🧡🖤

🏀 Shenandoah Recreation League Basketball Registration Is Open! 🏀

Registration is now open for our 2026–2027 Basketball Season for boys and girls in grades K–5!

This season will include player evaluations, seven weeks of fundamental skill-building clinics, and four weeks of games. It’s a great opportunity for players of all experience levels to learn, improve, and have fun on the court!

🏀 Registration Fee: $40
👕 Team T-shirt included
📅 Registration closes Friday, November 20
💳 Registration fees must be paid by evaluations.

Candy Wars are coming to Shenandoah Elementary! We’re collecting individually wrapped candy from October 1–26 for our Trunk or Treat on October 29 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. The class that collects the most candy by weight will win a pizza party! Let the friendly competition begin!

Shenandoah Elementary PTA wants to send a Sweet Teacher Shoutout to Mr. Dakota Dinges, one of our stupendous first grade teacher for Shenandoah Elementary School. A PTA parent had this to share about Mr. Dinges:

“We have a lot of great teachers at Shenandoah Elementary School, but I would like to nominate Mr. Dakota Dinges! Mr. Dinges is a teacher that doesn’t just show up to work because it’s a job. He shows up for the kids…all the kids! His room is always filled with respect for one another, patience, and a love for learning! He is a teacher that understands that not everyone learns at the same pace or the same way and will take his time to try to teach things multiple ways or go over things again so that everybody has a chance to understand it. Along the way, he makes sure his classroom is fun while learning so the kids are excited to come to school each day. As a parent, I really enjoyed that he planned activities that were parent involved so we could come in and see what they were learning. Communication was always open, if you had a question or your child just didn’t understand something fully, he was very responsive and would send any tips and tricks to help! You won’t find a day that his classroom is not filled with prior students stopping in to say hi because he truly is one of those teachers who is there for the students. I couldn’t think of a better teacher to nominate!”

Shenandoah Elementary PTA wants to send a Sweet Teacher Shoutout to Mrs. Micah Baker, our mystical, possibly magical music teacher for Shenandoah Elementary School. A PTA parent shared this sentiment about Mrs. Baker and we think it hits the right note.

“Micah Baker doesn’t just teach music—she sparks joy and creativity in the students who get to participate in her music program. My own daughter comes home “keeping the steady beat” to the music in the car or practicing the new chorus she is learning for the school winter performance. Mrs. Baker gets the opportunity to work with kids across all the grades and see them every year, so she gets to know them deeply-their successes, their struggles, and she sees them grow and change. She also makes them feel seen and valued. You can their faces light up when she says hello to them and asks them how they are doing in the. Mrs. Baker is her own kind of steady beat in their educational experience and Shenandoah Elementary School wouldn’t be the same without her.”

A parent had this to say about her students experience in the classroom with Mrs. Bennett. We think it highlights the enthusiasm and heart Mrs. Bennett brings to her classroom and students. Keep up the great work!

“Mrs. Bennett treats all of her students with kindness, respect, and compassion. She takes the time to understand each child’s individual learning needs and finds ways to help them reach their full potential while making learning fun and engaging. She is always willing to participate in school dress-up days and friendly competitions, helping create a fun, positive, and exciting school environment. In addition, she has taken the initiative to start a garden club at the school, giving students another wonderful opportunity to learn, grow, and explore new interests. Mrs. Bennett goes above and beyond to make a positive difference in the lives of her students and the school community.”

Shenandoah Elementary PTA wants to send a Sweet Teacher Shoutout to Mrs. Wanda Plum, one of our awesome first grade teachers. A parent of a student shared this personal story about her students experience in the classroom with Mrs. Plum. We think it highlights the dedication and enthusiasm Mrs. Plum brings to her classroom and students. Mrs. Plum is always quick to raise her hand to help or offer valuable insights on the many PTA projects we work on throughout the year.

“I am honored to nominate Mrs. Wanda Plum because of the incredible impact she has had on my daughter. When my daughter entered her classroom, she was learning the basics; she left with confidence, curiosity, and a true love for learning. Mrs. Plum made reading exciting, brought math and science to life, and created unforgettable experiences like making homemade ice cream and butter. She gave my daughter something that cannot be measured by grades—a belief in herself. She even tutors students for free after school and all summer and continues checking on them after they leave her classroom. She truly changed my daughter’s life.”
