📵 Cell Phone Reminder at The Bay

To support student learning, connection, and a positive school environment, cell phones should be turned off and stored in student lockers during the school day.

We appreciate families partnering with us to help students stay present, focused, and connected throughout their day.

A few important reminders:

• Cell phones should be off and stored in lockers
• Students should not carry phones in classrooms, hallways, or other school spaces
• If a student needs to contact home, a staff member can help
• If families need to reach their student during the school day, please contact the main office

We’re excited to share this wonderful resource with our Shelton School District families! 💙 Please see below for information about clothing, school supplies, and connections to additional community resources. We’re grateful to have a space where our families can find support when they need it most. Please share!

We will open to our Shelton School District families starting next week: Tuesday, Sept. 15th 4-5pm.

Regular times for walk-in needs will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4-5pm.

We have clothes of all sizes, toothbrushes, shoes and some school supplies. We can help connect you with resources for food, parenting classes, medical appointments, and other needs.

Please join us in welcoming Shelby Noullet as our new Native Ed Para Tech for the Shelton School District!

Shelby will be serving Shelton High School, Oakland Bay Jr. High School, Cedar High School, and CHOICE Middle & High School. Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Shelby moved to Shelton two years ago. With four years of experience working in behavioral education within a school district and active involvement in Native outreach programs, Shelby brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to supporting students. In addition to professional experience, Shelby also volunteered with MAAIM, which provided deeper insight into the diverse tribes in the area and fostered a greater appreciation for both the unique differences and shared connections within local communities. Shelby is excited to contribute both personally and professionally to the Shelton School District this year.

🌿 Help Us Keep The Bay Fragrance-Free 🐺

To support a safe and comfortable learning environment for everyone, OBJH is a fragrance-free school.

Families can help by reminding students to avoid wearing or bringing strongly scented products to school, including:

Perfume, cologne, and body sprays
Strongly scented lotions or hair products
Aerosol sprays and other fragranced products

For some students and staff, fragrances can cause significant discomfort or health concerns.

Quick OBJH Update! 📣

NeeDohs, squishies, and similar fidget toys need to stay at home.
These items can quickly become distracting, get passed between students, or create messes when damaged.

Students with a documented support plan that includes a sensory or fidget tool may continue to use those supports as outlined by their team.
