Thank You, Alan Barnicle! 💙🤍💛

September 1 marked Alan Barnicle’s final day with the Diocese of Bridgeport after many years of dedicated service to our Catholic schools.

Throughout his time with the Diocese, Alan served as a Personalized Learning Coach, Director of Personalized Learning and, most recently, supported our schools through the Seton Collaborative. Along the way, he wore many hats and became an invaluable resource to principals, teachers, students and the Office of the Superintendent of Schools.

As Superintendent Stacie Stueber shared, it is often said that someone leaves big shoes to fill. In Alan’s case, we may need about ten pairs to cover all that he did!

While the Diocese is sorry to see Alan leave, the DOB Catholic Schools community is excited that he will continue serving Catholic education in his new position with National Catholic Educational Association (Official) NCEA. Please join us in wishing Alan every success and keeping him in our prayers as he begins this exciting new journey!

First Day of School Joy at St. Theresa School, Trumbull!🎒✏️📚🍎

What an incredible start to the new school year! 🎉🍎 The smiles say it all as students, families, teachers, and staff celebrated the excitement of being back together!

The morning began with a beautiful Welcome Back to School photo backdrop, complete with custom balloons and the perfect spot to capture those special first day memories! 📚🎒✨

🙏 The St. Theresa School community then gathered together for **Donuts & Devotions**, joining in prayer and praying the Rosary for a blessed beginning to the school year. Families, students, teachers, and staff came together in faith, celebrating one of the many things that makes Catholic education so special. 🙏🤍

☕🥯🍩🍎 The celebration continued as the HSA treated the AMAZING St. Theresa School faculty and staff to coffee, bagels, donuts, and fresh fruit to kick off their official first day BACK TO THE GRIND! 😂☕🍩🙌

One of the most meaningful moments of our annual Convocation is the opportunity to recognize the extraordinary educators who bring the mission of Catholic education to life each and every day. 🍎📚🙏✨

Yesterday, we were incredibly proud to celebrate the recipients of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Teacher of the Year Awards! 🏆💙🤍💛

🏆 Mr. John Agostino, affectionately known to generations of students as “Mr. A,” has been named the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Elementary Teacher of the Year! 🎉📚

For more than a decade, Mr. A has served students in the Diocese of Bridgeport with enthusiasm, creativity, kindness, and a deep commitment to Catholic education. From his years at St. Theresa School to his continued work as a middle school social studies teacher at The Catholic Academy of Stamford, he has inspired countless students to learn, grow, and discover the world around them. 🌎📖✨

His impact reaches far beyond the classroom through unforgettable educational experiences, student activities, and the annual Veterans Prayer Service, which he has lovingly organized for the past six years. 🇺🇸🙏❤️ Through his dedication, Mr. A helps students understand the importance of history, gratitude, service, sacrifice, and faith.

🏆 Mr. Timothy Weiss has been named the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton High School Teacher of the Year! 🎉📐📚

As a mathematics teacher entering his tenth year at St. Joseph High School, Mr. Weiss is dedicated to helping students build confidence, persevere through challenges, and discover that even the most difficult problems can become opportunities for growth. ➕📐✨

But his impact extends far beyond mathematics. 🙏💛 Inspired by his faith and the example of St. John Bosco, Mr. Weiss helps students grow not only in knowledge but also in faith. From daily prayer and school liturgies to retreats, the Guitar Club, and sharing his musical talents in the spring musical pit orchestra, he generously gives his time and talents to the St Joseph High School
community. 🎸🎭🙏✨

Today, Catholic educators from across the Diocese of Bridgeport came together for the annual Bishop’s Convocation, a beautiful day of faith, fellowship, reflection, and celebration as we prepare for a new school year! 📚✨

The day gave educators the opportunity to reconnect, share in our common mission, and celebrate the incredible people who make Catholic education possible. 🙏

Keynote speaker Fr. Kevin O’Brien reminded us that holy ground can be found everywhere, encouraging us to approach the people and places around us with greater awareness of God’s presence. His message centered on three simple practices: Be attentive. Be reflective. Be loving.

We were also proud to honor our St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Teachers of the Year:
