Mr. Brennan and Ms. Doherty welcomed back our 6th graders yesterday at orientation. It was wonderful to have the students back in the building!

On Saturday, August 29, 2026 members of the Shelter Island High School Class of 1986 gathered at the home of Jeffrey & Sharon Gibbs on Cove Way, Shelter Island to celebrate 40 years of friendship as they marked the anniversary of their high school graduation (June 29, 1986).

The group enjoyed a beautiful Shelter Island summer evening with Peeko oysters, classic barbecued skirt steak & chicken, summer salads, and grilled vegetables. All this was complimented with some celebratory beverages and a visit from Mister Softee.

The members of the class that were not able to attend due to prior commitments and work obligations were missed. The class also said a few words of remembrance for classmates that have passed on: William (Billy) Payne - 1986 Paul John (P.J.) Rendeiro - 2012, and Robert (Bobby) King - 2026.

Those in attendance all agreed not to wait 40 more years to get together.
