📚 A group of Shell Lake School staff members kept their reading skills sharp by participating in a Summer Reading challenge!

The goal was to read a total of 30,000 reading minutes. With over half of the 27 staff signed up tracking their reading minutes, the group surpassed their goal before the end of July — documenting 32,000 minutes collectively!

The grand total of minutes read by the end of the challenge was over 40,000 minutes!! The group celebrated with pizza and a chance to win donated gifts.

A sincere thank you to District Librarian Mrs. Williamson for spearheading the challenge and to the community businesses that contributed to the celebration:

To the Students, Staff, Families, and Community of Alma Center Lincoln:

On behalf of the School District of Shell Lake and our entire school community, we extend our deepest condolences to the students, staff, family, and friends of Alma Center Lincoln following the tragic passing of a student-athlete after a football injury.
There are no words that can adequately express the sadness that comes with the loss of a young person. Our thoughts are especially with the student’s family and loved ones, as well as his teammates, coaches, classmates, teachers, and the entire school community who are grieving this heartbreaking loss.
We stand with your school community during this incredibly difficult time and hope you find strength and comfort in the support of those around you.

Shell Lake FFA is kicking off our first of three blood drives for the 2026–27 school year next Tuesday, August 18!

🚨 We have a LOT of spots still available!
Right now, only 21 of our 69 appointment spots are filled, leaving 48 spots open between 8:30 AM and 2:30 PM.

There is currently a critical shortage of blood, and every donation can make a difference for someone facing an emergency, undergoing surgery, battling illness, or simply needing a helping hand.

📣 The School District of Shell Lake welcomes Mrs. Jenna Johnson! Mrs. Johnson is the Elementary Special Education teacher.

💙 We asked Mrs. Johnson to tell us a little bit about herself and this is what we learned:

💛 Mrs. Johnson has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology and holds a Teaching License in K-12 Cross Categorical Special Education.
💙 Prior to teaching, Mrs. Johnson spent seven years working in the field of children's mental health.
💛 She is married (Mr. Johnson) with one son, who will be attending school at Shell Lake this year. 👏🏻
💙 When she’s not at school, Mrs. Johnson likes to spend time reading, relaxing at the lake, spending time with family, and taking her dogs for walks!
💛 What is one thing we will never catch you doing: Bungee jumping!

💙 What are you most excited about in your new role? I'm most excited about getting to meet my students and becoming a part of the Shell Lake community and Laker family!

🫶🏻 Long before teachers decorate classrooms and students fill the playgrounds, custodians and maintenance crews are working their way through the school!

The team has been scrubbing, steaming, trimming, repairing, and polishing nearly every surface.
