Make a big difference in a little reader's life! 📚✨

We are looking for enthusiastic community volunteers to join our C**ts' Community Readers program. As a reading mentor, you'll pair up with an elementary student to help build their reading confidence, comprehension, and love for books.

Orientation and Training Details:

Date: Friday, September 11

Time: 10:00-11:00 AM

Location: Clear Creek Elementary: Room 210

No prior teaching experience is required—just a warm heart and a willingness to listen to and encourage our students! We will begin our mentorships the week of September 21.

Clear Creek Elementary is a positive, student-centered culture where every educator is dedicated, loves children, and supports one another in a continuous cycle of improvement. Ready Fest's 2026 Back-to-School Event: What to know before you go!

Q: When and Where?
A: The 2026 Ready Fest Back-to-School Event will be held on Saturday, July 25th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Shelbyville Conference Center, 219 7th St, Shelbyville, KY 40065

Q: What does my household Income level need to be to participate in the Ready Fest Back-to-School Event?
A: Ready Fest provides back-to-school supplies to EVERY SCHOOL CHILD in Shelby County, regardless of income level.

Q: If I have two children in school, can I get school supplies for both of them?
A: Absolutely. Ready Fest is here for any Shelby County child attending school. Public school, private school, home school, every school!

Q: What Identification do I need to bring to Ready Fest to participate?
A: None. If your child goes to school in Shelby County, Ready Fest is here to help!

Q: What does it cost to go to the Back-to-School Event?
A: Nothing. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY FREE EVENT.

Q: I don’t know what items are on my child’s school supply list!
A: Don’t worry, we do! All you need to know is your kiddo’s grade and school, and we have exactly what they need waiting for them.

Q: I’m in high school. You guys can’t know what I need for my classes!
A: Well, you’re right. But we have a pretty solid selection of most of the things you will need, so you can pick out your own notebooks, binders, pens, and pencils!

Q: What if my kids can’t come to the event?
A: Your kiddo doesn’t need to attend the event to benefit from it. As long as you register the child during the event, any responsible adult or sibling can pick up what they need in their absence.

Q: What if nobody in my family can come to the event?
A: We’ve still got you covered. Ready Fest will be providing the FRYSC at every SCPS school with supplies that you can pick up at your Back-to-School Bash, or even on the first day of school.

Q: What if my child becomes overstimulated at the event?
A: There will be a dedicated Quiet Room at the Conference Center, with dimmed lights, comfy seating, snuggly blankets and pillows, drinks and snacks, and calming, grounding activities like coloring, reading, and fidget toys. No screens allowed.

Q: Where can we park?
A: The Shelbyville Trolley will be circling between Southside Elementary and the Conference Center during the event! Park at Southside Elementary, and enjoy a free trolley ride that will drop you off at the door, and take you back to your car when you are done.

Clear Creek Elementary will be closed Monday, June 29th through Friday, July 10th. Happy Summer! We will return to the office for regular summer hours (8 am to 2 pm) on Monday, July 13th. Thank you!
