Southwestern JrSr HS was represented in the INpact band at DCI Finals on Friday & Saturday. 3 students were chosen for this fantastic event. Another group of students watched & enjoyed DCI for the 1st time😊. Long day, but so much fun!

This week’s SWHS Band Camp was one of the most productive & enjoyable camps that I have had the pleasure to lead😊. I truly appreciate everyone who attended either the beginning camp in the morning or the afternoon marching band camp. The positive attitudes & hard work goes to show that Southwestern has some of the best kids around! I hope you enjoyed your week as much as I did. Thank you so much & see you soon😊.

Another great SW band camp day😊. Wow- positive attitudes & lots of learning happening. Let’s keep this going!
Reminder- pool party from 6:00-8:30 at Meridian Aquatic park in Shelbyville. All are invited-cost is $3.00 per person & we’ll be having pizza instead of the cookout on Friday night. Also, there will NOT be any marching band camp on Friday afternoon from 2-8 b/c many cannot attend.

Southwestern Band camp is next week from Monday - Friday. 6th-7th grade beginning band students meet in the morning from 8:00-1:00 with Flutes & Clarinets at 8:00, Saxes from 9:00, Trumpets & FHorns at 10:00, Trombones, Euphoniums & Tubas at 11:00 & percussion from 12:00-1:00.
All 8th-12th grade band students meet from 2:00-8:00 pm. Make sure to bring a sack dinner & refillable water bottle. I’ll have bottled waters & snacks for snack time.
Don’t forget your instrument & wear comfortable shoes that you can march in.

Kings Island 2026 is in the books! 39 adventuresome band, choir, Spartanette & chaperones spent a very fun & soggy day making memories! It was a great day spending time together & I want to thank the parents & chaperones who help make this annual trip happen! I am always tired afterwards but it’s so worth it😝.

Our annual ‘Mayfest’ Spring Concert was held on May 11 at the Wortman Theatre in Shelbyville. All 3 of the bands & choir performed at this wonderful venue. The SWHS band was joined by members of the VU Wind Ensemble in addition to a trumpet solo with VU Trumpet Professor, Wade Baker. It was a wonderful evening of great music & we want to thank the staff at the Wortman Theatre for hosting us😊.

Opening night was a success! Mrs. Mickler and her wonderful cast of drama students presented The Addams Family, with live music provided by the Greenfield Community Orchestra. If you missed it, you can still join us on Saturday, April 18th at 7:00pm, and Sunday, April 19th at 5:00pm. Tickets at the door are $12 for adults and $8 for kids. Themed waffles with assorted toppings also available for purchase: one for $3 or two for $5. Hope to see you there!
