Shelby Academy hasn't felt the same without our students in the building and we were thrilled to welcome them back this week! We've reviewed what it means to be part of the Shelby Academy family, done some community building, and jumped in academics this week.

Check out these inspired innovators that were given only 10 pieces of paper, 12 inches of tape and were challenged to build a structure that could hold the most weight! One of these almost held a student (can you figure out which one?)!

We are growing!! Shelby Academy Applied Agriculture and Leadership class had their student orientation and training. Our Ambassadors learned farm care, procedures, roles and responsibilities. We are excited to see the hands-on learning opportunities this brings our students as well as the other students that will visit our mini-farm! 🌱🌻🐔

This week, the Shelby Academy staff traded classrooms for the lake, enjoying an afternoon of laughter, conversation, and team building. While it was filled with fun, it was also a reminder that the strongest schools are built on strong relationships.

When our staff invests in one another, we're better equipped to support and encourage our students throughout the year. We are grateful for this time together and excited for all of our students to be back in our rooms as we kick off another year of growth and learning together!

Congratulations to our very own, Jeff Bracken, for receiving the Outstanding Teacher of State Agency Children Award for his outstanding leadership and service.

Mr. Bracken goes above and beyond every day to create a classroom where students feel valued, challenged, and inspired. Through his creativity and genuine care for each student, he makes learning meaningful and engaging. This award is a reflection of the lasting impact he has on the lives of his students and our entire school community. We are incredibly grateful to have Mr. Bracken as part of the Shelby Academy family and we couldn't be more proud of him!

Welcome to the Shelby Academy family!

Matt Axline was born and raised in Shelby County where he graduated from Shelby County High School in 2010 before attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. He and his wife, Haley, have three kids, Atilla, Charli, and Tripp. Family is a huge part of his life.

Matt love sports and enjoy giving back through coaching both football and lacrosse at Shelby County HS. When he is not coaching, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing video games.

Welcome to the Shelby Academy Family! Brooke Coffman, and is thrilled to be joining the Shelby Academy family as a math teacher! As she begins her 12th year of teaching, she is excited to share her love of learning and helping students discover that math can be both challenging and rewarding. When she is not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports, and reading whenever she gets the chance.
