Recruit Spotlight – Keegan Longwell

Keegan’s interest in the fire service started in high school when he had the opportunity to take a fire and rescue class. After taking the class and getting some experience around the fire service, he realized it was something he enjoyed and wanted to turn into a career.

Keegan first became familiar with Sugar Creek Township Fire Department while working part time at Morristown Fire Department. During that time, he met several SCTFD firefighters who spoke highly of the department and the people who work here.

Keegan completed his Firefighter I & II training at Blue River Career Center in Shelbyville and has continued building his knowledge and experience through additional classes over the last several years. FF Longwell is also this classes sole Paramedic.

He grew up in Morristown with his parents and three younger sisters. Since high school, Keegan has worked for his family’s business and has also spent the last two years working part time at Morristown Fire Department.

Outside of the firehouse, Keegan enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

As he starts his career at SCTFD, Keegan says he is looking forward to getting to know and learn from the firefighters within the department, as well as putting the skills and knowledge he has gained over the last several years to work serving our community.

We’re glad to have Keegan at Sugar Creek and look forward to watching him continue to learn and grow throughout recruit school and his career with SCTFD.

Due to incoming heavy rain, potential severe weather, and torrential flooding, BRCP will be dismissing all bus riders at 2:10 PM and all drivers at 2:15 PM today.

Blue River Career Programs will offer in-person registration on Tuesday, July 28th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM AND 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM here at our career center.
