Dear All (as Dr. O'Kelley would sometimes begin an email),

Today as I walked in the gym at East Elementary, I looked into the kindergarten room all the way across to the other side where the door was open to the lounge area and I saw a refrigerator. This refrigerator looked different from the other one that was there. The other refrigerator was almond in color and it made a horrible racket. I got my drink out of my book bag and walked to the refrigerator. I thought to myself, you look familiar. The top freezer door was black where it could be written on and then it hit me. I thought you're the refrigerator that was in the lounge at Graham. I was like hello old friend. As I opened the door to put my drink inside, the fridge was like, yes it's me. I'm happy to be here. I didn't know what was going to happen to me. I have a job and I'm excited that I can keep drinks and food cool for the teachers here. I have sooo many memories from being at Graham. I shed tears when there was sad news being shared in the lounge. I laughed sooo many times when the drink machine took money and didn't spit out a drink. There were soooo many snacks and food shared in the lounge. I miss the smell of coffee being brewed. I miss the conversations, the gossip I mean news, and the happiness that was shared in front of me. I miss the ones that left food in me (sometimes for months). I'm sooo glad Phyllis took time to clean me. Most of all I was happy that I could serve my family at Graham. I've moved on and I'm glad that I am able to serve what will become my family here at East Elementary. Please tell everyone that I'm ok and I miss everyone. As I closed the door I thought Dee, what are you doing??? It's only a refrigerator, an inanimate object, but that refrigerator gave me comfort today...not because it was going to keep my drink cold, it reminded me of all my Graham brothers and sisters.
If I left someone out of this email, I certainly didn't mean to. Feel free to pass it on to others unless you don't want to be identified with someone that bonded today with a refrigerator.
I miss everyone and I wish everyone the best!
And remember if God takes care of a refrigerator, He's going to take care of us!!
