I cherish the making of music with my voice, and I hope to pass that love on to every student I teach. Hello! I have been teaching people to sing since 2010.

My name is Gena Wiltshire and I am a professional singer and educator living in the Greater Charlotte area. My students range from middle and high school young adults to adults in their thirties, forties, and beyond. I have experience teaching both male and female voices of all types. I have had students join professional choirs, graduate from college with Bachelor's of Music, and become successfu

I have uploaded the med. low voice part to YouTube for my student's who are learning this song. Please remember to always learn a song on a neutral syllable like "dah" before adding the words. Only practice with words after I have worked with you on your italian diction and you have written in your IPA symbols. I will be posting a video of me pronouncing the text and explaining the diction.

Tips for maintaining vocal health:

1) Always drink plenty of water everyday! You can never have too much water over the course of the day. Water keeps the vocal cords lubricated, your blood moving and transporting oxygen, flushes out toxins, and maintains your immune system.

2) Take your vitamins and get at least 8 hours of sleep a night! The best way to maintain vocal health is to maintain your over all health! Sleep is one of the most important components to staying healthy! It should be one of you highest priorities.

3) Warm-Up everyday before singing AND talking! When you wake up, your vocal cords have been at rest for hours (hopefully eight hours!). They are cold and stiff. By warming up the voice before you start the day you insure you're not straining your cords.

4) Do not talk outside in cold weather and wear scarves when you go outside. Cool air rushing through your larynx and into your lungs can create inflammation of the vocal cords and induce coughing. Breath slowly through your nose to make sure the air has warmed up.
