Seventh graders got a hands-on look at what their future could look like during Junior Making It Work at Cleveland Community College!

Students spent the morning exploring workforce areas across campus, meeting local industry partners, and discovering how the classes they can take in high school can connect to careers and programs at CCC.

And they put their problem-solving skills to work! 🚀

During the engineering challenge, teams were given a simple set of materials- popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and a bottle cap- then challenged to design and build a working catapult. Students tested their designs, made adjustments, worked as a team, and put engineering concepts into action.

From CTE pathways in high school to college programs and local careers, Junior Making It Work gave students a chance to see what’s possible and start connecting the dots between school and their future.

🎨 From preparation to finished product!

Our Collision Repair students took a panel through the full process. They prepped the surface, applied primer, designed their own look, and brought their ideas to life with paint.

Students were able to follow the proper repair and refinishing steps while also using their creativity to make each panel their own.

⚙️ Learning the technology behind industrial automation!
Students in our Introduction to PLC course are being introduced to programmable logic controllers and how they are used to control equipment and processes in today’s industrial environments.

By the end of the course, students have a foundation in basic PLC systems and programming that can support careers in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, automation, and electrical systems.

Hands-on technical skills like these help prepare students for the demands of today’s workforce.

What a great day on campus with students from area high schools exploring career opportunities through Cleveland Community College’s Workforce Development programs!

Students got a closer look at a variety of career pathways, including Welding, HVAC, Electrical Systems, Collision Repair, IT, Business Administration, Machining, Industrial Systems, Automation Technology, and Mission Critical.

These experiences gave students the opportunity to explore different industries, learn about in-demand careers, and see how their interests and skills can connect to real workforce opportunities.
