Our schools will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

We remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We are grateful for their sacrifice and wish all of our CCS families a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

We’re excited to recognize four outstanding individuals who each earned 1st place in this year’s NC Career Development Poetry & Art Contest!

This annual competition celebrates creativity, career success, and personal well-being, and this year is especially meaningful for us. While we usually have a few winners place, this is the first time every one of our entries took home 1st place!

Our winners:
• Greyson Wells – 1st Place, Poetry (Middle Grades)
• Avanlei Wells – 1st Place, Poetry (Senior Grades)
• Stephen Tharrington – 1st Place, Poetry (Open Adult)
• Ronda Branch – 1st Place, Digital Art (Open Adult)

Their work reflects not only incredible talent, but also thoughtful insight into their personal journeys and future aspirations.

Each winner received a certificate and a cash award from the NC Career Development Association, and their work will now advance to the national level.

High school juniors and seniors in Cleveland County Schools have an opportunity to participate in a Summer Electrical Academy hosted by Cleveland Community College.

The program will run from June 8 through July 29, 2026, and is designed to give students hands-on experience in the electrical field while exploring potential career pathways.

Participants may receive a $2,000 stipend, assistance with transportation costs, free college tuition, and the opportunity to earn a pre-apprenticeship certificate.

Students interested in the program must attend one of the following interest sessions:
March 26 at 5:30 PM
April 21 at 5:30 PM

Students can learn more and complete the interest form by scanning the QR code on the flyer.

We were thrilled to recognize our 2026 Spelling Bee Champion, Greyson Wells from Cleveland Innovation Virtual Academy, along with runner-up Caleb Marlowe from Crest Middle School, at our Board of Education meeting.

Congratulations to both students on this outstanding achievement - we’re proud of your hard work and dedication!
