Join us for our next Sensory Storytime on Saturday, February 7th at 10AM.

Enjoy an inclusive story time with a smaller class size for all children and all abilities featuring limited distractions and tools like a visual schedule and fidgets, and an activity after the story. Siblings welcome. Please register each child attending.

Drop in and join us for Baby Bears on Friday, February 6 at 10AM. Take part in short stories, songs, lap bounces, and playtime with other little ones under age 2.

There is a Teen Advisory Board meeting this Thursday, February 5th at 5:30!

Help plan events at the library for the teens in our community. Earn service hours for attending the meetings. To become a member and earn service hours, please submit a volunteer application and completed work permit to the librarian.

Do you have a young reader who wants to practice their reading skills?! Paws for Reading is back on January 31 at 9:30! Children and their caregivers can check in at the children's desk to take turns reading for 10 minutes to a certified therapy dog with its handler. Bring a book from home to read or choose one in the library. 📕🐾

Just starting to get the hang of AI? Maybe you haven't been having much luck finding what you're looking for? No worries!

Join us on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 1 PM for our next Tech Talk: Talking to AI for Beginners.

Drop by after school to play games of all kinds including: board games, party games, TTRPGs and more! We’ll show you how to play.

The tech librarian is available for questions during this time. The program is first come, first-served. Bring your devices and questions and we will work together for a solution. Popular topics include setting up digital services, care for devices and help with Microsoft Office.

Join the Friends of the Shelby Township Library for a Beautiful Day on Belle Isle!

Spend a spring day exploring one of Detroit’s most iconic destinations on Thursday, May 14, 2026. This fun and relaxing trip includes a guided tour of the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, time to explore Belle Isle on your own, and a delicious Greek lunch at Pegasus Taverna in Greektown with a stop at Astoria Pastry Shop for something sweet.

🌊 Free time to explore Belle Isle (Aquarium has a suggested $5 donation)

The trip departs from the Shelby Township Library at 8:15 a.m., with an approximate return time of 3:15 p.m. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in. The cost is $109 per person, which includes transportation, lunch, park entrance, all taxes and gratuities, and a donation to the Friends of the Shelby Township Library. Space is limited to 25 passengers and mobility is required.
