Do you have a young reader who wants to practice their reading skills?! Paws for Reading is back on January 31 at 9:30! Children and their caregivers can check in at the children's desk to take turns reading for 10 minutes to a certified therapy dog with its handler. Bring a book from home to read or choose one in the library. 📕🐾

Join the Friends of the Shelby Township Library for a Beautiful Day on Belle Isle!
Spend a spring day exploring one of Detroit’s most iconic destinations on Thursday, May 14, 2026. This fun and relaxing trip includes a guided tour of the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, time to explore Belle Isle on your own, and a delicious Greek lunch at Pegasus Taverna in Greektown with a stop at Astoria Pastry Shop for something sweet.

🌊 Free time to explore Belle Isle (Aquarium has a suggested $5 donation)
The trip departs from the Shelby Township Library at 8:15 a.m., with an approximate return time of 3:15 p.m. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in. The cost is $109 per person, which includes transportation, lunch, park entrance, all taxes and gratuities, and a donation to the Friends of the Shelby Township Library. Space is limited to 25 passengers and mobility is required.
