✨ Alumni YAGP Spotlight: Sabrina Sierens

From the MADA studios to the professional stage, Sabrina is now a company dancer with Orlando Ballet! 🤍

Ballet competitions and YAGP are just some of the incredible opportunities we are proud to offer our dancers at MADA. We asked Sabrina to share what these experiences meant to her throughout her training:

“The most beneficial part of participating in ballet competitions is the rehearsal time. Having the opportunity to rehearse variations multiple times a week is truly the quickest way to grow as a dancer. These variations are extremely difficult and meant for seasoned soloists so it required an immense amount of work and studio time for me to perform them, which is the only way to improve and gain maturity in your dancing!

My favorite thing about YAGP was being surrounded by people as passionate as me. This art form has always been so special to me and being around dancers with similar drive and focus was so motivating. I also obviously loved performing. It is rare for such young students to have the opportunity to perform a solo, so it is important that you don’t pass up any opportunity to do so!

For anyone interested in competing, I highly recommend doing it and focusing only on yourself! These competitions are so great for dancers to gain rehearsal time and performance experience but it is also important that you don’t take the awards too seriously and know that the greatest reward is the improvements you’ve made along the way.”
