Hi Families!
We are so excited for our final camp of the summer: Kindergarten Readiness Camp! Next week is all about helping your child feel confident, capable, and ready for those exciting first few weeks of school!
Throughout the week, we’ll practice many of the academic and independence skills your child will use in Kindergarten, including:
- Letters & letter sounds
- Numbers & counting
- Beginning sight words
- Cutting with scissors
- Gluing & completing classroom activities
- Packing and unpacking belongings
- Opening lunch containers and managing lunchtime independently
- Following directions, classroom routines, and building independence
Please have your child bring a full-size backpack each day. We’ll practice packing up our own belongings so children can become comfortable and confident doing this independently at school.
We are also asking each child to bring a packed lunch each day, just as they would for school. This gives us the opportunity to practice opening lunch boxes, containers, wrappers, drinks, and other items on their own. At the end of lunch, they’ll also practice cleaning up and packing everything back into their lunch box and backpack.
Our goal isn’t for children to have everything mastered before Kindergarten! Instead, we want to give them lots of opportunities to practice, problem-solve, ask for help when they need it, and build the independence and confidence they’ll need in their new classrooms. 💛
Of course, we’ll still make plenty of time for movement, play, and FUN along the way!
We can’t wait to spend one final week of summer camp with your little learners and help send them off to Kindergarten feeling ready and excited for their next big adventure!
